Seeing Nature Whole with Craig Holdrege
Life Rhythms & Planting Calendar with Sherry Wildfeuer

March 23 @ 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Side Room at Threefold Auditorium
260 Hungry Hollow Road
Chestnut Ridge, NY

In the morning, Craig Holdrege explores how to work with the living dynamic qualities of plants and animals to better understand the world around us. In the afternoon, Sherry Wildfeuer, a long-time editor of the Stella Natura planting calendar, explains how the calendar is created, what it tells us, and how we can use it to learn to work with, rather than against, nature’s rhythms and forces.

Craig is a biologist, an educator, and Director of The Nature Institute in Ghent, NY, a research and education organization for a unique qualitative approach to science. Craig is the author of many books and articles on genetic engineering, genetics, and a holistic, Goethean approach to science.

Sherry is the editor of the Stella Natura Biodynamic Planting Calendar, a co-worker at Camphill Village Kimberton Hills, PA, and a long-time active member of the Anthroposophical Society and the Agriculture Section of the School of Spiritual Science.

Celebrating the Centennial of the Agriculture Course: Approaching the Agricultural Individuality

Public lecture by Mac Mead
Friday, January 12, 2024, at 7:30 pm
Threefold Auditorium
260 Hungry Hollow Road
Chestnut Ridge NY

To register for the talk, visit https://threefoldcommunityfarm.org/event/the-agricultural-individuality-celebrating-100-years/

Mac Mead will look at the context and significance of Rudolf Steiner’s Agriculture lectures given in June 1924 in Koberwitz, Silesia, and focus on a central theme, the agricultural individuality. What are the What, Why, How, and When of this guiding star of biodynamic work?

MAC MEAD mentors Threefold Community Farm staff and interns. Mac began farming in 1975, when he had the “privilege and good fortune” to learn biodynamic methods directly from former co-workers of biodynamic pioneer Ehrenfried Pfeiffer at the Fellowship Community. In 2006, Mac became the Program Director of the Pfeiffer Center. The core instructor of our Biodynamic Course, Mac regularly speaks at conferences of the Biodynamic Association (BDA), the Northeast Organic Farming Association, and the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture. In 2016, he was an invited speaker at “The Spirit of Sustainable Agriculture,” a conference of the Harvard Divinity School.

Join us “over the winter” in our Winter Farm Arts youth program for ages 7-14!

January 19 - March 29, 2024
Fridays, 1:30 pm – 3 pm

Threefold Community Farm
At the Pfeiffer Garden across from 275 Hungry Hollow Road
Chestnut Ridge, NY

The Winter Farm Arts course for youth introduces a series of hands-on, farm-to-table arts skills that inspire and renew the gardeners’ creative spirit during the quieter months on the farm. During this course, students engage in activities that connect to the work that farmers experience, guide, and create in the garden. As the weather warms, we will return outside and prepare for an early spring planting.

Each class will consist of a brief introduction of the topic, a demonstration of the project, and a hands-on activity complete with a take home project.

Winter Farm Arts Course for Youth As the weather cools, the last of the season’s crops are harvested and the farm beds are put to rest. Over the winter, the farmers will often look inwards and spend this quieter time reconnecting and renewing their creative spirits. Yet, there is still some activi...
