Calving season has begun.

Yesterday was 0° when we started and 28° when we finished. We needed to move the cows closer to home before the snow starts to thaw and makes a muddy mess. After 3 1/2 hours and 5 miles, we got it done and snapped some pretty cool photos while we did it. All 4 kids rode, and I don’t think there is any danger of them forgetting this specific cattle drive, between the temperature and the snow, it will be remembered.

Our first calf heifers are calving right now and these little white faced ones are about as cute as they get!

To kick off back to school we added a daily chore…

These calves look good and we are excited to finish them out for some local freezers.

Pretty summer evening with the cows.

Don’t forget we are at the farmers market in Yreka, Wednesdays 10-1 at the fairgrounds. Come see us and get what you need for dinner tonight. All locally grown!
We have steaks, ground beef, ribs and roasts all dry aged 21 days!

Getting some hay delivered!
This is just a portion of what we need for the winter. We’ll get some more delivered in August, but it feels good to get a jump start on it and get a bit stacked in the barn.

The squeeze took it off the semi and stacked it on the ground for us. Then the hay was loaded into the barn with a smaller tractor. Our next load will be small bales and require a little more manual labor 😜.
