Pay attention to the women who clap the loudest when you win, not because they gain anything from it, but because they're genuinely happy for you. Those are the kind of people worth keeping close.

A good friend doesn't compete with your success. She celebrates it, encourages it, and reminds you that there's room for all of us to shine. In the rodeo world, those women are the ones waiting at the out gate with a hug after a winning run and a kind word after a tough one. They cheer just as hard when you're holding the check as they do when you're picking yourself up and trying again next time.

Those kinds of women are rare. When you find them, hold onto them. They're worth more than any buckle, paycheck, or title you'll ever win.
