We are happy to announce that a majority of our quail have survived the brooder stage and have successfully relocated 22 of them into their outdoor pens. We currently have 12 Roos and 10 Hens. Hutch on left is our "Bachelor Pad" and has 10 Roos in it that will eventually get "rehomed". Hutch on the right is our breeder cage with the 10 Hens and 2 Roos that were selectively chosen for temprment. Hopefully within the next few weeks we will be collecting our first eggs from these girls.

We are happy to announce that with the latest rebranding, not only have we decided to have our business cards reprinted to reflect the changes; but we are also rolling out a customer rewards program as well... Each time you make a purchase from us (whether at Highland Farmers Market or direct sale by contacting us to schedule pick up from our "farm"), either myself or Diana DiGiugno will place our initials on one of the spots on the back of the card. Once all of the spots are filled, you will receive 10% off your next order with us.

Can't believe how quick these little fluff nuggets are growing... exactly one week in the brood box and already tripled in size and growing out their adult feathers. 3 more weeks and should be ready to move to their "permanent" enclosures.

While we are anticipating to take part in the Highland County Farmer’s Market this upcoming season; we are sad to announce that due to issues beyond our control, we will unfortunately be missing the opening day on Friday, June 5’th. While we have already produced some successful “test” batches; our first market batch decided to take a flop on us due to temperature fluctuations and higher than typical humidity caused by recent rains. While I can always start a new batch, they will not be ready for harvest within the proper time frame for next weeks market. I do greatly apologize for any inconvenience.

Set 31 quail eggs into incubator on the 8’th of May. Candling as of lockdown showed that 29 of those were “viable” and the other 2 lit up like a Christmas ornament signifying they were unfertilized. First chick hatched some time between 9 am and noon on Sunday and the others started popping shortly there after… With that being said, now have total of 24 babies in the brooder as of this morning. Upon checking the other 5 eggs that didn’t hatch yet, there were no pips so decided to candle them and sadly, no movement at all so chalking that up to FTT (Failure to Thrive). Considering this was my very first experience incubating any kind of animal and getting the eggs shipped to me from a farm in Ohio; still very ecstatic with a “gross” hatch rate of 77.4%. Most “first timers” like myself report only a 50-55% hatch rate on shipped eggs which can be caused by a number of things from temperature swings while in transport to improper handling by carriers.
