Did some more 3rd party testing on the salt - this time it's heavy metals.
There are 2 photos. (pinch and zoom, pinch and zoom)

Photo 1 is a test of salt made from ocean water directly off the coast. As is.
Photo 2 is salt that has been put through our filtration process.

The specification is 2ppm (.0002%). In other words, the pass/fail marker.
Having looked at similar tests for other salt companies worldwide, the agreed upon specification for safe salt is 2ppm, in terms of heavy metals.

You will see a drastic change between the salt from unfiltered/raw and our filtered ocean water salt. It moves from ppm to ppb very quickly.

Cleaner water equals cleaner salt equals a healthier end product for all of you. This has been a non-negotiable since day 1.

We are very proud of this and the validation of the method behind the madness. We make premium salt products, arguably the cleanest available, and the results speak for themselves.

I've been dancing with this over the past couple of weeks. I'm no expert, but the inspiration for this comes from the mercados of Oaxaca. The result is a smoky, spicy, salty umami powerhouse that transports you to the #1 food city in the world.

"Mercado Salt" -
Smoked sea salt, chapulines (grasshoppers), mole, thyme, cumin, oregano, puya, guajillo, pasilla, orange, lemon, cinnamon.

One recommendation when visiting these markets is to wander down smoke alley in the Mercado 20 Noviembre. Plain and simple, you just can't do better than grilled, seasoned meat stuffed into a handmade tortilla. If that's not your thing, perhaps a mixta of radishes, peppers, cheese, nopales, or avocados criollos is the way to go. Either way, you order your meat, then your veggies, and the cooks along the 100+ yard stretch coordinate the entire plate, and bring it to your table when they're done.
Smoke alley is an experience that stays with you. Not only are you surrounded by vendors that offer their family moles, chapulines, frutas, chocolates mexicanos, mezcales and other amazing items, a stroll down smoke alley brings it all together.

As for the Mercado Salt, I guess that's what I do. I travel, I get inspired, and I get to share that with all of you.

Retail only, soon. 💙

Another adventure.

For those into art and creative writing, especially those that need an outlet/community that supports the part of your brain we seldom are encouraged to share, I created a new IG account () for this purpose.
There are many wonderful and artistic realms within all of us, and I can't post everything on this account that I'd like to, because it's too much, and I have to keep Big Sur Salts kinda centered. Writing is one of my passions, and I'd like to share it. Perhaps others would like to share, as well. (?)
I have tinkered with this on Tiktok, and I enjoy the idea of a free space, sometimes with a little direction. There will be challenges, such as "finish the sentence" (e.g. the above photos) or "share your thoughts on..." such and such.
Honestly, I'm also dipping into my followers to build more community beyond salt. I write and make music, I travel a lot, I write poetry, I enjoy literature. A lot of you do, also. Some of you build things or paint or sculpt. I'd like to share these with you.
Or, would you rather just scroll through endless negative political rants all day? Frankly, I'm tired of it. I'm tired of all this division. We are so much more.

The above photos are the first post of that account along with the first challenge.I went ahead and finished the sentence with my own words, to lead it off. If you're a writer, and enjoy sharing your thoughts, please do in the comments of that post. If it doesn't interest you, that's cool, too.

If you are interested, I will be posting once per week and it could be a creative writing challenge, it could be something else, perhaps music, but it will ALWAYS be art for the sake of art.
