Spoon Gathering Update
Jun 4, 5 & 6, 2026

Registrations, T-shirt order extension & Events

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial weekend.

The 2026 Spoon Gathering is 10 days away. There are roughly 160 registrations to date, including 25 up and coming young carvers and artists. The theoretical cut off is 200. Whatever we take in from registrations goes to running the event. It is still only $40 for 3 packed days of demonstrations, workshops, presentations, activities and carving. If you are thinking of attending, please register so we know how much money is in the kitty for this year. Funds raised from last year's Spoon Gathering has allowed the school to purchase new equipment for 2026!

One way to support the Spoon Gathering is to buy a t-shirt. We have a new wonderful, original design again this year. The deadline to order a t-shirt has been extended to 12 noon on Wednesday. Then the final list will then be sent to the screen printer. There will be some extra t-shirts for purchase at the Gathering, but the only way to guarantee a t-shirt is to pre-order. Thank you to everyone who has already placed an order.

More updates will go out in the next few days, including the Schedule of Events.

Last year, the school had the honor of hosting an exhibition of previously unseen artworks by renowned carver, Fred Cofelow. Fred will return again this year to present and unveil never before seen masterpieces.

David Anderson, spoon carver and baker, will be giving a demonstration of baking bread in the wood fired oven.

Michael Mickolajak will be demonstrating how to make his wooden coffee mugs.

And more, including a presentation of hand-carved Swedish butter boxes by Mary Tripoli.

Registrations can be made at www.milanvillageartsschool.org.

We're looking forward to kicking off our 2026 Pasture Walk Series next Thursday, April 23 at Circle K Ranch!

Come walk the pastures along the Lac qui Parle River from 6-8 and see firsthand how thoughtful grazing management and planning can work on your operation. By converting cropland to perennial pasture, integrating annual forages, reducing inputs like pour-on dewormers, and implementing bale grazing, Circle K Ranch has improved soil health, lowered costs, and increased profitability. They have also strategically extended the grazing season, keeping cattle on pasture and out of the lot for most of the winter.

It's free to attend! Learn more and register at https://sfa-mn.org/events/pasture-walk-series-1-circle-k-ranch
