Sometimes we see some cool things putting in fence. Birds made a nest way down deep in the thistles, grass and clover. Birds are great cause they help with the fly load. Ever see swallows dive over cows to get some flies?! I’ll have to try and catch a video when fly season hits hard. It’s so cool to watch.

I hate these pretty purple flowers with a passion. Pulled most out by the roots out chopped them off as close to the ground as I could. Normally we don’t have too many but this year we have a bumper crop 👎🙄 we’ll burn them with the next fire.

Took advantage of the weather this weekend and worked two groups of cows and calves. Cows got some pour on fly control. Calves got a pinkeye vaccine and blackleg booster, castrated the bulls and implanted them as well and all the calves got a fly tag too. Over halfway done working everyone just got the big group left.

Not to their backs in this section. It’s actually going to be seeded to sudangrass after they are done grazing it. Been in pasture since 2006 and the pasture is slightly tired. It was overgrazed and mismanaged for a few years. Decided we could use some some annuals for when the cool season grass slows down. So about 9 acres here will be going into sudangrass real soon.

Cows at Hopkinton are working their way through the sea of grass. Yes it really is as tall as their backs 😂.
