Minnesota State Fair is a wrap! The sheep did great.

North Country Cheviots:
• Rambo — 1st, January AOB Meat Ram
• Brewski — 2nd, February AOB Meat Ram
• Pink Pony Club — 4th, Yearling AOB Meat Ewe (a very competitive class)
• Ella — 4th, January AOB Meat Ewe Lamb
• Billie Jean — 2nd, February AOB Meat Ewe Lamb
• Treasure — 1st, Spring AOB Meat Ewe Lamb

We were really proud to bring 6 North Country sheep, with 4 of them making the champion drive.

Our Valais made their state fair debut and were definitely a crowd favorite:

• Noah — 3rd, Spring AOB Wool Ram
• Lola — 4th, Spring AOB Wool Ram

Thank you to everyone who helped make the show possible. Mamie was a rockstar getting the sheep ready! Natalee, JoLee, Craig, Gwyn, Kate, Brennan, Elliot, Becca, Dylan, Jo, and countless others helped with prep, showing, and answering endless questions.

Dinner time chaos. Lola’s over here pawing the fence like the world is ending, and Cora just strolls up like “ma’am, we don’t do that here.”

A good dog is worth her weight in gold. What used to take us thirty minutes of chasing sheep around the pasture now takes Cora a matter of minutes. She reads the flock, holds the line, and gets the job done. Every single time. Case in point, she’s too fast for me to video and get the gates at the same time. I don’t know how we farmed without her.

County Fair recap: what a weekend!

Our garden plants pulled a few blue ribbons… then wilted before we could snap a single photo. It was a hot one this weekend!

But the real story was in the barn — our Valais Blacknose made their FIRST EVER fair debut and immediately became the talk of the show. And they backed up the hype with the ribbons to match.

The highlights:
Rose, our ewe lamb leased by Natalee Marquette, took Reserve Supreme Ewe in the open show

Vegas, our newest ram, landed in the top four overall rams

The Cheviots held their own and placed well in their class

First place in coarse wool - meat breed

This was one definitely for the books. Already counting down to State.
