In my opinion, the month of May is one of the best displays of God's creation. It fills my soul with such joy! Blessed beyond measure! Thank you, God!

Kid free for a few hours... Miles' idea for a romantic date night is "Hey babe, wanna help me catch a couple cows?" I say "yeah, sure! Which ones are we catching?" He says "The bull and that spooky black and white heifer." 🤣🤣🤣 I should really learn to ask these questions before committing LOL
He did have the courtesy to ask if I wanted to get in and sort or work the gate... I made him work the gate!

Its been a wee bit busy around here lately! We are still sorting and moving cows to different pastures for the summer. We got pigs last week. Miles and Floyd got the corn and beans planted this past month. Sorghum sudan grass went in the ground today. Carla Jean is blessing us with that good jersey cream. Our new barn kitten "Pap Stu" is settling in well. Our God is so so good! 🙌

We got a new barn kitty this week. His name is Pap Stu. He likes to antagonize Carla when she is in the stanchion. Typical kitten shenanigans... he really loves the calves. I watched him snuggle right up to this one during milking and take a nap. What a life!

When I was a little girl, I used to hang out at the neighbor's horse barn all the time. I loved animals and always wanted a farm when I grew up. I went to college for agricultural science. Somewhere along the way, society convinced me that children were a burden. "Feminism" sold me a bag of goods that I should go to college, get out in the workforce, and be a boss babe. I landed a career with the federal government, working in the USDA. Thought I made it. I got a career with the great benefits. Just had to sit at a desk for 30 years and collect. I made it a year and a half and quit. I was way too feral to sit at a desk for 3 decades. At some point, biology took over. I wanted babies. Best decision ever made. Being a momma to these feral farm kids has made me feel the most feminine I have ever felt. I never once thought I would be a stay at home mom. The hours are long and I'm always on call. It's the hardest but most rewarding thing I've ever done. I get to share my love of animals with them everyday. I am so blessed to be able to spend unlimited time with my kids all day every day. I'm so glad God made me their momma ❤️

Carla had a set of twins yesterday. This morning, the boys and I suited up in our rain gear to check calves. Carla is our only dairy cow in the herd. She will make plenty of milk for both her babies plus provide our family with some too.
This was our second set of twins born on the farm for the year. 807 calved a couple weeks early and only one twin survived the birth. We aren't exactly sure what happened. My boys get exposed to alot of lessons on the farm. With livestock comes dead stock. It's just part of farming.
Carla calved a bull and a heifer. There is over a 90% chance the heifer is a "free martin". A free martin is infertile. When you have a bull and heifer in utero together, the bull's hormones impact the heifer calves reproduction system. Most likely, her ovaries didn't develop and she might even express some bully characteristics.

🌾🍀🐽 PASTURE RAISED PORK AVAILABLE 🥩🐖

Our last batch of hogs from summer are headed to the butcher this coming week. We still have a hog and a half available for custom processing. These are heritage breed hogs raised on pasture at our small family farm located outside of Montoursville. These are high quality and ethically raised proteins. Pasture raised pork has higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids (heart healthy and anti-inflammatory), higher antioxidant & vitamin content, as well as higher levels of minerals (zinc, selenium).

✨️Send us a PM or drop your email below for our price sheet and custom processing information! 📧👇✨️

We are also taking names for Fall 2026 grassfed only beef.🐮
Thank you for supporting small local farms!❤️
