Had a fun weekend at the Cowboy State Classic. Clancy and Boone got to work triple duty showing, settling herds, and as turn back help! We even won a few checks! Thanks to Wade and his family for all they do!!!

We absolutely love this c**t by Cracklin Kat and out of our daughter of Brother Tuff Wood!!! I kind of wish he was a filly so I had an excuse to keep him 😆. If anybody is looking for a top notch performance prospect this c**t is it!

Remember how I said there’s never a dull moment around here? This morning I went to check a group of mares that we have on a different pasture a few miles from home. As I was driving by I noticed Gypsy wasn’t with the group, so I went walking out to find her standing by herself in the far end. As I got to her she seemed pretty normal at first, but then I noticed she didn’t really want to move. A quick inspection and lift of her tail showed why! Somehow she had a large stick lodged from the bottom of her hind end all the way to her tail head!!! Thankfully Chase and Payton were quick and willing to come help with the situation. We got her pretty drugged up to the point we could get her to walk back to where we could load her and get her to the vet. After a large incision they started pulling it out and it just kept growing! It ended up way bigger than any of us thought. 16” in length and as big around as my forearm! Hoping we can keep it all clean and she heals up quickly 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

We’ve got some exciting news to share about Clancy 🙌 His color test just came back from UC Davis and he’s homozygous roan!!! We can’t wait to see all the fancy roan babies next year!

Not only are these c**ts bred to be talented, they’re super gentle and friendly as well! If you’re in the market for one we love to have people come out and spend some time in the herd seeing how great the mares and babies are!

🚨Boone highlight!🚨
This guy is so cool! I can still remember the first time I saw his sale ad as a weanling and just knew that he had stallion potential for us. I loved his breeding because it’s pretty unique. He’s by the great cowhorse Blind Sided (LTE $224,945, PE $930,640) and out of a double bred Blue Valentine mare. Pretty much every Blind Sided I’ve seen has been nice and talented, plus I’ve always loved Blue Valentine bred horses for their toughness, grit, and laid back, easy going demeanors. Originally the plan for him was to be a great option for people as a rope/ranch stud, but as he developed I could see the potential as a possible cowhorse (you don’t typically see horses with his size and old school ranch breeding on his bottom side make the cut in reined cowhorse) So we sent him to Wade Reaney to see what was possible. Well, here we are a year and a half later and Boone just keeps getting better and surprising us every day! He’s BIG standing right about 15.3 hands as a 3 yr old, but he’s compact and can really move, especially for his size! He just had his first show and minus a mishap in his reining he did great! He had good scores in the herd and down the fence! He just keeps exceeding expectations and that’s exciting! He’s a gentle giant and will be a great option for people looking to add some size to smaller mares while still keeping athleticism.

Now that breeding season is done we want to give a sincere THANK YOU to everyone that bred to Clancy this year!!! We had a greater response and success than we could have imagined, in large part because of people talking and promoting him, and can say that we’re truly excited for every foal that’s coming next year! We got to meet some incredible people that we now consider friends and are so thankful. We plan to hit the ground running next spring, but will only have time and space for so many mares, so if you want to get on the books let us know. We had planned to get Clancy back to Wade by July 1st so he’d have plenty of time to prepare for showing again this summer/fall, but ended up delaying that to get a really great mare bred last minute. We were excited to check her in foal yesterday! We finally got him to Wade on the evening of the 10th after spending his last day with me on the mountain checking and doctoring cows. Less than a week later they loaded up for Montana for his first show back. They didn’t miss a beat and ended up 1st overall in the derby🥇!!! They had the 2nd highest rein and herd scores, along with the highest fence score! We’re so thankful for the opportunity to have such an amazing stallion and for the effort Wade and his crew put into him! Thanks to Cowgirl Captures for the great photos from the show!

It was a beautiful evening to walk the pasture and check on all the mares and babies. We’re excited for what the future holds for this years foal crop by One Shiney Metallic, Cracklin Kat , and Once You Go Hick.
