It’s not every year we get an intern from Poland through the Ohio State University intern program, but here we are! Unfortunately, Jakub’s (Jacob) last day is today.

This summer he has been a vital part of our farming team. On his last day, he wanted to moooove into the dairy farm world to learn more. For the past six months, he’s been helping us farm 6,000 acres for our cows! We’re incredibly grateful to the university for sending us a hard worker. Thank you for your time with us and safe travels.

A news update from our herd.

Farmers are using fans, sprinklers and cold water to keep cows cool. Cows can start to experience heat stress when the temperature hits 80 degrees.

Doing our part for the environment.

The Methane Digester is almost complete. Yesterday they finished installing the canopy. Right now the canopy is held up with large fans. But…

Once we start the digester, the lower portion will be manure. The gas will then be released from the manure and this canopy will hold the gas under roof to be processed into Biogas.

We are moving nutrients to our fields in order to sustain a healthy crop growing season.

Every field is tested for nutrient levels. We use variable rate technology to apply the nutrients, and ensure we only apply the nutrient levels the crop needs.

Today was a significant step forward for us. We commitment to taking cow comfort to a whole new level by prioritizing clean and dry sand is commendable, as it is considered the gold standard by many industry experts. Our new slope screen building, which enables the use of thin reusable water to clean our sand lane, is a wise investment that will enhance the health and comfort of our cows. We are always striving to improve in every area of the dairy industry, even when things don't go as planned. Our high-quality sand is a solid foundation for ensuring that our cows perform to their full potential.

Farmers are busy in Williams County this week. Keep an eye out for extra traffic over the next few weeks.

We are actively hauling manure nutrients to the fields, planting corn and soybeans, and harvesting 1st cutting Alfalfa.

Over the winter we invested in some new ways to reduce traffic, and hope to continue to invest in other new ideas.

Thank you for understanding the increased traffic.
