Heading to East Haddam for an afternoon of Halloween fun?? Make a day of it!!

🕷️ Halloween in the Village is happening TODAY, Saturday, October 17th, from 2–5 PM, with hayrides, a witch walk, food trucks, local vendors, face painting, and so much more!!

Visit us for lunch before the festivities, or swing by afterward for a delicious yeeeero, our new apple harvest salad, and all your Greek favorites!! 🇬🇷

We love seeing our community come together to support local businesses, and today is the perfect excuse to do just that.

HAPPY NATIONAL BOSS’S DAY TO US!!

Meet the bosses of Thena Pita Bar.

One of us is washing dishes. The other is working the grill.

Both of us are wondering when we get promoted. 😂

When you own a small business with your spouse, you’re the CEO, the chef, the dishwasher, the marketing department, the cleaning crew, and occasionally the person who has to remind the other one what they were supposed to be doing.

Would we trade it? Not a chance.

But if anyone knows where we submit our PTO requests, please let us know!!!

🥹OKAY, THIS MADE OUR DAY!

Our wonderful neighbor Becca, owner of Becca B Nails right upstairs from us, was recently interviewed by Alexa Curtis and asked one very important question:

What’s the most underrated place in Connecticut? 👀

And she said… THENA PITA BAR!!! 😭💙

If you’ve met Becca, you know she’s one of our favorite familiar faces! She comes in weekly to support us and has a serious love for our veggie pita. So hearing her share such kind words about our little Greek spot makes this extra special.

Becca, thank you for supporting us, spreading the word, and being such a wonderful neighbor. We’re so lucky to have you right upstairs!!

❤️ A LITTLE MESSAGE FOR A VERY SPECIAL LITTLE GUY…

Saturday was ABSOLUTE MADNESS at Thena Pita Bar!! We had more orders flying in than we’ve seen since we first opened, and we sold out of our Greek burger (bifteki) way earlier than expected!

But one little boy came in specifically for our bifteki… and when we had to tell him we were all out, those little tears just broke our hearts. 💔

So, little buddy, THIS ONE’S FOR YOU!!

After a very late night of prepping, and restocking, we’re ready to do it all over again today! We’ve made more bifteki, whipped up fresh tzatziki, and prepared more of your Greek favorites because we’re hoping to make Sunday a little sweeter for everyone who walks through our doors. 🙌

If you and your family see this, PLEASE come back today! We’d love a second chance to make you your Greek burger — this time with a full belly and a BIG smile!!

🚨🚨 MOODUS… WHAT IS HAPPENING?!!

IT’S ONLY 5 PM AND WE ARE ALREADY ALMOST SOLD OUT!!!

Saturday has been ABSOLUTELY INSANE at Thena Pita Bar! We’ve been one person down today, and you guys have been showing UP BIG TIME!

🚫 Chicken souvlaki — GONE!
🚫 Pork gyros — GONE!
⚠️ Tzatziki sauce — ALMOST GONE!

WE REPEAT… IT’S ONLY 5 PM!!

We are beyond grateful for this kind of love, but our menu is getting VERY limited for the rest of tonight.

If you were planning on stopping by, please keep this in mind! We’re doing everything we can to keep up, and we cannot thank this community enough for showing so much love to our little Greek spot. 💙💙

Thursday means one thing… Thena Pita Bar is OPEN for the weekend!!!

And we have to say… she is looking extra gorgeous this time of year. 🎃🌿✨ We’ve got the pumpkins, the beautiful mums, the crisp fall air, and all the cozy little touches outside that make us want to hang out here all day.

We’re SO ready to see your smiling faces walk through our door! Come grab your favorite gyro, some crispy fries, housemade tzatziki and all the Greek goodness you’ve been craving.

And a little local love while we’re at it — the gorgeous mums and fall goodies outside came from Gray House Farms, a small local business we were so happy to support. 🌼 We love filling Thena with a little piece of our local community!!

The Athens Apple Salad has entered the chat.

We may be known for gyros, feta and tzatziki… but every now and then, we like to pretend we’re responsible adults and eat a salad.

And THIS one is worth talking about!

• Arugula
• Crisp apples
• Plenty of feta
• Sweet + crunchy pecans
• Dried cranberries
• Our house-made Greek honey–apple c***r vinaigrette

Fresh, crunchy, tangy, a little sweet and very October. 🍂

A little behind-the-scenes falafel magic happening in the Thena kitchen! 🇬🇷

Fun fact: Niko had to be convinced to put falafel on the menu because, well… it’s not exactly a staple in a traditional Greek taverna! 😂

Fast forward to today, and it’s become a fan favorite. Made by hand, packed with herbs, spices, and plenty of zest, it’s proof that sometimes the best things happen when you let the wife win.

Add it to your gyro or your salad — Niko might not admit it, but he’s pretty proud of this one! 💙💙 Opa!
