I was in the grocery store a few weeks ago and my total was $65. I remember the cashier saying “one bag of groceries, this is awful”. I agreed. I let her know at our house we spend on average $100/per person per month in food and household items. She was floored. This subject has been a long-time conversation with many people in my life. Shocked is always the answer. Disagreement. No way.
I’m here to tell you that when inflation is at its highest - it is possible. How?
Meet farmers. Those eggs you bought at the grocery store for $7 last week? We sell for $3. Feed is astronomical but chickens are a hobby, not an income.
The beef you’re buying for 7,10,15 dollars a pound? Buy from a farmer! On average, the cost is $4/lb.
If chicken is more than $1.99/lb, I’m not buying it! If chicken is .99cents a lb - I’m buying 15-20lbs at a time and vacuum sealing it.
Dairy, produce and grains? Follow the sales flyers. Every Sunday I spend to price compare. If it’s not in a sale flyer, I’m not going to buy it. If it’s a great price, I’m buying 1 for now and 2 for later. If it’s on sale at two places, I’ll go to the second place.
Knowledge is power. Food is nourishment. You need both.
