Are you a new, aspiring, or expanding farmer veteran who wants to build the knowledge, skills, and confidence to grow a successful agricultural operation?
FVC Texas is excited to partner with the Council for Healthy Food Systems (CHFS) and Farmers Assisting Return Military (F.A.R.M.) to offer FIVE SPONSORED SPOTS to FVC Texas members for the Fall 2026 Groundwork Farmer Training Program!
🌾 WHAT IS GROUNDWORK?
Groundwork is a 12-week hybrid training program designed to help beginning and expanding farmers develop practical farming and business skills. The program combines online learning, live Zoom sessions, and hands-on, in-person farm days in the San Antonio area.
The Groundwork curriculum focuses on building a farm operation that fits your resources, goals, and situation — from enterprise selection and infrastructure to finances, markets, pricing, profitability, marketing, and developing an integrated farm plan.
🌱 You will learn about:
• Farm vision and enterprise planning
• Resources, capacity & constraints
• Enterprise selection & system fit
• Infrastructure & sequencing
• Financial planning
• Market channels
• Business ownership & financial records
• Cost analysis, pricing & profitability
• Sales, distribution & customer development
• Marketing, branding & risk management
• Developing your working farm business plan
