Community is what wine is all about. Nobody is more important to the Cavaletti Vineyards community than Sam Cummings. Sam grew up on High Street and remembers walking to school through the empty lot on Poindexter where the winery now sits. His hand-crafted wines are made at Cavaletti and are laser beam focused on expressing Ventura County terroir. Tonight he is taking over the winery. “If you aren’t a little bit embarrassed by how your fruit looks, you probably picked too early.” That explains a lot about why don’t post very much….This is the single best looking bin of Syrah that we’ve ever harvested. Very Insta-worthy. Brown seeds, a little bit of sag, perfect chemistry, great flavor and color. Also - the earliest Syrah we’ve ever harvested. Wygant Vineyard - Somis Hills, Ventura County

Harvest is underway and the tasting room is buzzing all month with events for everyone. Never visited us? Pop in for the last few days of Moorpark Restaurant Week and enjoy our insane $1 flights of four wines during normal hours all weekend. Want to be the life of the party ? Join us Friday night for Karaoke with Ruth. Need to laugh more? On Saturday night we transform the winery into an intimate comedy club after hours(link in bio for tickets). Want something quieter? The 2026 harvest begins.

This is our earliest start ever and we really could have picked last week if we were mentally prepared for it.
The first fruit to hit the winery is Pinot Noir from coastal Ventura County for rosé. 90+ degree heat is forecast for the next week and the rest of the vineyard will be picked for red in the very near future. Quality looks good and there will certainly be no challenges achieving ripeness this year.
