Do not go out and buy a breeding pair of baby goats. You cannot breed for 18 months . Do you really want to feed a Billy goat for 1.5 years before you can breed ? Plus you will need 2 separate pins because no one wants a doe pregnant at 6 mos of age, you run the risk of death and at the least miscarriages and prolapse. If your starting with goats get 2 does if you intend to breed. If not and you just want pets Billy’s make great pets if they are neutered ( won’t p*e all over themselves in the fall) called a weather. Goats are herd animals and should be on a farm with other goats. Do not keep your goats in the house unless sick or new born I keep my babies in my pantry in a playpen for 1 week with a heater on then they go to the barn stall. I do not let them in the field until they are 3 months. And again they’re toddlers so pay attention to hazards. Happy Goat keeping

Let’s talk baby goats. Because I don’t want to see another post on Facebook about a grown goat with a broken leg or a kidd. Think toddler !!! Look around your goat area if you wouldn’t send a 3 year old there to play alone, then you need to correct something.

We will have Spring babies, some of the finest milkers. Also, this Spring, i will be reducing my herd " milking nanny's" , if your interested in a milk goat, please get on my list.

Year after year I have seen my bucks health go down during rut and I have actually lost 3 high quality bucks during or right after breeding season. After consulting my friend and long time goat owner she has recommended all bucks be stabeled indefinitely, I am inclined to agree, as soon as I got them up and settled, their health has returned and less spraying of urine. She thinks, and I agree that they get themselves so tore up on avvount of the upcoming events, that it completely wipes out the immune system and weakens them down.
