I think some people confuse “small business owner” with “professional people pleaser.”
Let me clear that up now so there’s no misconception moving forward:
I am kind. I am appreciative. I work hard for every single customer that supports this business. But I will never tolerate disrespect, entitlement, manipulation, or people thinking they can speak to me however they want because I “just sell bread”.
I am not politically correct.
I am not fake sweet.
I do not kiss ass for sales.
And I will never water myself down to make rude people comfortable.
This business was built from scratch with long days, late nights, sacrifice, discipline, and consistency — not by allowing chaos into my life just to avoid hurting someone’s feelings.
The people who support me with kindness and respect will always get that same energy returned tenfold. But if someone comes at me sideways, they’re going to find out very quickly that I have boundaries and I’m not afraid to enforce them or even call you out for your behavior as a grown adult.
Thankfully, the overwhelming majority of my customers are absolutely incredible humans, and I’m beyond grateful for every one of you. But I’d rather lose a sale than lose my self-respect or cause myself stress.
