Friends. This is all of the chicken eggs from just the last two days. This isn’t even showing the duck and goose eggs lol. Spring on a farmstead is intense, y’all 😂

Message me for bulk quantity prices and stock up for this fall and winter when chickens stop laying (eggs freeze great!). We also offer unwashed eggs which can last on your counter (best in a cool, dark place) for a few weeks. As always, non-GMO feed, plenty of sunshine and fresh air, and healthy chickens are our priority.

Hey friends! If you’ve been to the egg stand over the last day or two and it was empty, sorry about that! Our family has been dealing with a couple of nasty viruses over the last week and I wasn’t able to keep up with refills. We are stocked back up and ready to go again today.

Now that fall weather is here (otherwise known as soup season lol), we are also offering freshly baked homemade bread. We can make all kinds including white, wheat, and freshly milled. We use organic ingredients and cast iron pans and we are hopeful that you will love our loaves as much as we do!

Enjoy my non-fancy real life picture lol. These were the loaves I made yesterday for my sick kiddos and I snapped a photo to send to Jim when he asked what I was up to. I’m too busy for fancy marketing and it’s the only proof of homemade bread I have currently in my phone 😂

Homesteading POV lol.

You have 125 meat chickens being processed in a week so you’re trying to preserve all the leftover birds from last year. Your latest task was cooking up a whole turkey and turning it into a giant 20qt pot of turkey pot pie filling for the freeze dryer.

Since you have a giant 20qt pot, you figured that you’d have enough for dinner too. Once you loaded all the filling on to the freeze dryer trays, you realize how much they actually hold and there was only one small bowl left lol. Sooooo no turkey pot pie for dinner.

You frantically consider what you can defrost at 5pm and pull out some venison sausage. You have lots of eggs and a frittata is fast! So then you run out to the garden to grab some kale and lo and behold your cucumbers have exploded!

So dinner was a sausage and kale frittata, a blueberry Dutch pancake, all of my freeze dryer trays are full, I have a lot more chicken and turkey to preserve, and apparently now I’m also canning pickles 😂

Have you ever made homemade mayonnaise? It’s soooo easy, takes like three minutes tops, and you can flavor it however you wish! This batch is a garlic mayo and it might be my favorite one yet 😁

Hey friends! Hope everyone had a great weekend! We’ve been super busy with all of the summer preserving. Our meat chickens will be processed in a week and I’ve been hard at work cleaning and organizing and canning and freeze drying lol. Our garden is starting to produce some too which is super exciting but it also means the start to all the produce preserving which will go until about October lol.

Anyone have any fun plans this week? Happy Monday!

Hey friends! The world is so heavy right now and social media doesn’t really help you to keep your joy. Two of my very dearest friends and I were talking today about how worn down we are from the constant stream of bad news and we all decided to take a break for the rest of the week to recharge and just love on our kids and husbands and each other.

I hope you all have a beautiful weekend and we will see you next week!

Every year I tell myself that there won’t be a mad dash around processing season because I’ll obviously have stayed caught up on everything and my freezers will be empty and cleaned and totally ready!

And of course that NEVER happens. My freezers are working freezers, meaning they are never not in use and are constantly being rotated. Plus, if my freezers were empty and standing ready that would mean we would be completely out of chicken for long stretches of time and that’s not a great plan either lol.

So while these mad dashes to preserve what’s left and empty and clean the freezers kind of drives me crazy, I’m also thankful that we are actually doing this thing and are raising our own meat and have been doing so for a decade now. It’s a crazy, weird, whirlwind, never sit down kind of a life lol. But it’s a good one ❤️
