🍷 Wine Wednesday: A Little History from the Hill 🍇

This Wine Wednesday, we’re doing something a little different and taking a look back at the history behind Atwood Hill Winery & Vineyard.

Nestled in the rolling hills of Morning View, Kentucky, our winery is more than a place to enjoy a glass of wine. The land, vineyard, and farmhouse all have a story—and those stories are part of what makes a visit on the hill so special.

🏡 Our story takes us back to 1918…

Lyda Mae, an original owner from the Clinkenbeard family, called this farmhouse home. Within these walls, she raised nine children, filling the home and the hill with generations of family memories.

One little detail we especially love—morning glories were Lyda Mae’s favorite flower. 🌸 A simple piece of her story that helps us remember the people who loved this land long before it became Atwood Hill Winery & Vineyard.

📸 The photo shown is the backside of the farmhouse, featuring the screened-in porch—a glimpse into what life on the hill looked like all those years ago.

Today, this property has taken on a new chapter. There are grapes growing in the vineyard, wine being poured, weddings and celebrations, and guests making memories of their own—but the history of this land will always be part of who we are.

Over the next few Wine Wednesdays, we’ll continue sharing pieces of Atwood Hill’s past and the stories that helped shape the hill we know and love today. 🍇🍷

The work never stops in the vineyard! This week, we’re netting the vines as our grapes get closer to harvest. 🍇

Those nets may not look like much, but they play an important role—they help protect our ripening grapes from hungry birds who apparently enjoy Atwood Hill grapes just as much as we do! 😂🐦

Every cluster counts, and keeping our fruit protected means more beautiful grapes make it from the vine to the wine. 🍷

A little extra work now is worth it when harvest time rolls around!
