Hi everyone,

Weโ€™ve received so many messages over the past week and weโ€™re sorry we havenโ€™t been able to get back to everyone individually. We know a lot of people were looking forward to strawberry season, and unfortunately it does not appear that we are going to get the large ripening needed to fully open the patch to the general public this year.

The season has been hampered by a combination of poor pollination and frost damage. The record heat we experienced in March jump-started the blooming process, but the late frosts delayed removal of the frost blankets and ultimately hindered proper pollination. Our plants have a large number of incomplete and stunted berries.

We have been allowing a very limited number of visitors to pick as berries become available, but overall the patch simply has not produced the volume we typically see.

We truly appreciate everyone who supported us this season and are so sorry to disappoint anyone. Trust us, we are disappointed too. Farming always keeps you humble, and unfortunately this year just didnโ€™t pan out the way we hoped.

Thank you all for the support, understanding, and kindness toward our small family farm. โค๏ธ

๐Ÿ“ Hi all!

Unfortunately, we are still CLOSED for picking right now.

A few things are impacting the strawberries this season:
โ€ข The heat has slowed ripening
โ€ข The frost earlier this spring killed some blossoms
โ€ข The lack of rain hasnโ€™t helped either

At this point, we are hoping for sometime NEXT WEEK, but we will keep everyone updated as we know more.

As many of you have noticed, when we do open this year, it has often only been for a day or two at a time. We are a smaller strawberry patch, and we have had a TON of visitors this season (which we are incredibly thankful for โค๏ธ). That also means the patch gets picked out much faster than in previous years.

We truly appreciate everyoneโ€™s patience, support, and understanding during a challenging growing season. We canโ€™t wait to welcome everyone back out to the patch soon!

๐Ÿ“ A quick note about our strawberries at Green Acres Morris Farm ๐Ÿ“

Weโ€™ve had a few comments this season that some of the strawberries are smaller than expected, so we wanted to share a little insight!

Our strawberries are organically grown, which means we prioritize flavor, freshness, and natural growing practices over producing oversized berries. Unlike many store-bought strawberries that are bred and grown for uniform size and shipping durability, our berries are grown right here in the field and picked at peak ripeness. Smaller berries are often some of the sweetest and most flavorful! โค๏ธ

A few tips for the best picking experience:

๐Ÿ“ Look low and under the leaves โ€” many of the larger berries like to hide
๐Ÿ“ Pick fully red berries for the best flavor
๐Ÿ“ Come earlier in the day for cooler temps and freshly ripened fruit
๐Ÿ“ Different rows and sections can vary in berry size throughout the season
๐Ÿ“ Donโ€™t skip the smaller berries โ€” theyโ€™re often the sweetest!

Every season and every field is a little different depending on weather, rain, and temperatures, but we are so thankful for everyone who comes out to support local farming and enjoy the experience with us.

We canโ€™t wait to see you in the patch!
