As a family owned and operated Christmas tree farm, we take a lot of pride in our work. Every year, the United States loses about 28,000-30,000 family farms. Supporting family farms is important now more than ever! There are not many Christmas tree farms in Tennessee, and we love bringing down trees to share a bit of our farm with you.

This year, we planted 13,000 trees. They will be ready for digging in 6-8 years, and ready to be cut as a Christmas tree in 10-13 years. Christmas tree farming is a long-term commitment and a labor of love.

The goal for our farm is to plant more trees than we harvest. Some people believe that Christmas trees are bad for the environment because you are cutting down trees, but this is not the case. We cut around 600-800 trees a year and dig about 2,000-3,000. This means that in 2026 we will plant more than 300% of what we harvest.

Our family has two 2026 graduates!

Our oldest daughter, Isabel, graduated from college and your youngest child, Isaac, graduated from high school!

Isaac participated in the power sports small engine mechanics program at the Career Tech Center. He has been using this education to help out on the farm. Whenever something breaks, Isaac is the first person to jump on the case and get to work. His sisters are not mechanically inclined, so he has helped MANY times to bail them out when things break!

Our oldest daughter, Isabel, graduated from college at the beginning of the month! She got a bachelor's degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Management from Grand Valley State University.

Every senior in her program had to create their own research project, and Isabel did her research on how herbicides impact soil health in Christmas tree fields. Her topic is under-researched, especially in relation to Christmas tree farming.

Her results suggest that herbicides can decrease soil organic matter and pH, which causes a negative impact to soil health. This means that both of the hypotheses for her project were correct!

On our Christmas tree farm, we use a minimal amount of herbicides to preserve soil health/environmental stability and protect the health of our employees

We decided to go with a small concolor fir tree this year. These are one of our favorite trees because of the great needle retention and the citrusy smell!
