Come get it while it lasts!

Gather the Good Farm, operating at Aberlin Springs Farm-to-Table Community, is opening up the offering of Harshman Pastures chicken!

We have a limited number of whole birds, for those of you that love the flexibility of getting all the excellent cuts AND all the uses.

We also have a very limited number of pieces still available. Message us or come on down to the farm!

Our birds are the best for so many reasons; those reasons all point back to the proper stewardship of creation. High-quality, local and non-GMO Zink Family Farms and Feed, carbon filtered water, mobile coop movements twice daily, and the wonderful salad bar for the birds to graze on. Giving the chickens this wholesome lifestyle affords us leeway to not do any preemptive medical interventions. For the 6 years I have been raising meat birds, I have never needed any kind of antibiotics, vaccines, or anything other than proper food, water, and environment.

We take our stewardship principles serious enough to offer no labels to hide behind; rather we openly invite our customers to come and see who, what, when, where, how, and why we do what we do. You should be the ones validating, and vetting your sources for food. There are no good labels to actually trust. There are however, some good farmers left willing to show you the whole farm. The good and the bad. Drop in to Aberlin Springs and ask to see your food on pasture. I’ll gladly take you around! This is true transparency.

Edit: We also butcher here on farm and welcome observers. We don’t believe it’s right to put this much work into our product to have someone else dunk it in chlorine and do who-knows-what else to it.

For purchasing, contact me to set up a time and I can help you out at the market. We accept cash, check, and card!

Whole birds: $6/lb
Bone-in Thighs: $8/lb
Breasts: $8.50/lb
Tenders: $8.50/lb
Drumsticks: $6.50/lb

I first want to apologize...

It has been WAY too long since an update on here. I have had many people asking about what this year looks like for us, for them sourcing good chicken and how many people are in line for the raw milk herdshare.

Ok, here are the highlights since you all heard from us last year:

We have moved to Aberlin Springs in Morrow, OH. It's Ohio's very first agri-community and I am their new livestock manager! I am using my experience as a regenerative farmer to spin up and manage the livestock on this 53 acre farm. I am heading up the chickens in the very same fashion and standards as before and we will be raising at least 600 this year. (I have a feeling that it won't be enough, but time will tell.) We are also raising lambs, pigs, and beef this year!

I am still operating the herdshare and Janet is pregnant! She will calve in early November and so early September, we will be drying her off. When she comes back into milk, we will be milking her once a day. We are actively looking for another cow (or two), filtering potential candidates through out strict requirements. We have a 22 person waiting list for a spot on the herdshare, and hopefully a couple more cows will alleviate that.

There is a market here, but it is private. Fortunately, there area spots still for you to be a Gather member. the membership fee is $50 a year (14 cents a day). This gets you access to the market and all the local goodies we have in there, access to the common grounds on the property (pond, grill room, etc.) and also access to their private chef. She has specific meal dates and a varied menu. Her portions come out to about $16 per serving and the food is EXCELLENT!

If you're interested in becoming a Gather Member, email me and I will direct you to the right person.

I will be updating Our Harshman Pastures page when I can, but I will also be adding content to the Gather the Good Farm page as well. I encourage you all to follow that page for more timely information and updates.

If you all have any questions, feel free to comment, DM, or come on out and check out the farm yourself!

Nestled on rolling hills outside Lebanon, Ohio, Aberlin Springs offers true farm-to-table living. Come explore.

Clown world!

As the season winds down, old things pass, new beginnings emerge, and all of creation slows to a gentler rhythm. This quieter pace is perfect for cleanup, reflection, and those mountaintop moments of inspiration and direction. Crimson maples blaze against a crisp blue, their leaves crunching underfoot; campfires warm cheerful friends and family as roasted marshmallows get stuck between fingers. While we know the uncomfortable freezing season is coming, for a moment we can enjoy the beautiful colors, the wonderful smells, and the sounds of earth preparing for slumber.

We’ve been prayerfully sitting on an exciting opportunity to steward more land than our current little homestead. It’s arriving sooner than expected—but for the very best reasons! Our property here in Waynesville will continue blessing us and another wonderful family.

Big news: Harshman Pastures is moving to Aberlin Springs in South Lebanon!

Dean has served as Livestock Manager there for some time, and now we’re thrilled to relocate the whole family and operation. Aberlin Springs is a farm-to-table community that stewards its land in a way that aligns beautifully with our regenerative practices. In order to propely manage the livestock, moving on-farm is the best method.

Every new chapter means closing others. With heavy but grateful hearts, we’ll no longer run the Appleberry Farm Market. Walking away is bittersweet, yet we trust the Lord has used—and will continue to use—this space for His glory. Thank you for letting us serve our community there; it’s been a true joy.

Good news for chicken lovers: Our standards of care and inputs staythe same, so you’ll enjoy the same healthy, delicious pastured chicken you’ve come to expect. Only difference is you’ll have to come see us at Aberlin to get your chicken. Butchering will start in June and runs through summer—details coming soon!

Our beloved A2 Jersey cow Janet is making the mooove with us. We’re hopeful to add another dairy cow soon to supply our 15-person milk waiting list (and the Aberlin neighbors) with that creamy, nutrient-dense goodness!

Big things are ahead as we build the Aberlin Springs meat program. Stick with us—abundance is on the way!
