Thomas Ireland Smith Farm

Thomas Ireland Smith Farm Our farm is located in beautiful Morrow Ohio (close to Cincinnati), and has been a proud part of the local landscape for over 150 years. Open daily.

We make delicious maple syrup, sugar & candies. Stop by our little self-serve farm shop and see us! We're proud to produce all natural 100% pure maple syrup in southwestern Ohio. We have a wide selection of beautiful bottles including our own unique hand-etched Ohio glass designs. We also produce maple sugar, candies, and maple coated pecans. In addition to planting thousands of new seedlings, we'

re transforming previously farmed cropland back to native grasslands and wildflower habitats to support local wildlife and migrating butterflies, as well as restoring several 200 year old barns and farm structures. Our property will eventually be donated to the county park commission for everyone to enjoy. Our production runs through the winter and early spring (January - early March) when air temperatures fluctuate between below and above freezing and the sap is running. During our season we will post open hours on the weekends and have special open house dates as well. Private booking for larger tour groups is also available at select times during the season. We will post opening times on our website once the season is underway. Check out our pages for lots of pictures of the farm. It's almost here!! The Troy Strawberry Festival is this weekend! Saturday and Sunday June 6-7. Hours 10 am - 9 pm on Sat (but of course we'll be there earlier!!) and 10-6 on Sunday. We will also be set up and doing sales on Friday evening from 5 -9 pm if the weather holds. Stop by for some of that delicious strawberry syrup and don't forget the strawberry maple cotton candy! We've been hard at work all week making up enormous fresh batches of it.

Our booth is a large double booth, #67 and 68.
We can sometimes be hard to see because there is a huge triple booth full of wooden signs next to us. But we are located fairly close to the Olive Oasis business at 7 E. Main Street -or- If you know where the Tonquas 222 Lodge is with the very cool Native American hanging neon sign out front, we're just a few booths closer to the city center on that street.

Don't forget the maple syrup for your holiday breakfast this weekend! Stop by our shop for some delicious treats - and check our Midnite Magic maple syrup (Very Dark Color, Strong Taste). We've restocked gallons and upgraded our labels for this amazing variety - rich and hearty maple flavor, a little smoky, a little stronger taste. Now they have a label that's as special as what's inside!

It's strawberry season! We're gearing up for our first big show of the year - the Troy Strawberry Festival is coming up on June 6-7. We're hard at work on all of our strawberry themed concoctions, including our NEW strawberry maple cream! A bit fluffier than our regular maple cream and absolutely delicious! We've stocked the fridge in the shop, and we'll have some on hand at the festival.

THANK YOU to everyone who came to our open house! We had beautiful weather and the sap was running. Special shoutout to Ryan Dewey and his family for all the help! We had tons of fun and we hope you all will visit us again next year.

Check out this picture - that's a silver maple breaking its buds open. The red maple flowers were also all over the trail early this week and the peepers are singing. That means this season is over. Yes, it's going to get cold again, but once those buds are open, the sap turns sour.

We're untapped but oiur little shop has lots of maple syrup, sugar and candies - and fresh eggs. We've switched to spring hours - now open 10-7 daily.

We're confirming the NEW DATES for our open house this year will be Saturday, Feb 28 and Sunday March 1 from 1 pm - 4 pm. We're still completely frozen over, so this looks like it was a good call to move it! (At least we hope the weather will be better then but who knows with this winter.)

IMPORTANT NOTE: We had briefly announced on our website that our open house would be February 7th and 8th but we have to POSTPONE until later in the month.

It may look pretty, but the snow is very deep and looks like it will still be here for the next several weeks. Our parking area for the open house (i.e.the yard), is covered with a foot of snow and there just isnt enough room on the driveway for many cars. It's a challenge walking across the yard to the sugarhouse even with a plowed path.

We don't have a firm date yet but we are strongly eyeing the weekend of February 28th and March 1. Stay tuned, and we will post as soon as we know for sure!

Ever have one of those days? You know, where you say "well, that wasn't how I planned to spend my day". Slippery moss on a slightly tilted bridge + a rainy sloppy day. Slicker than ice. Luckily the tank was still empty. Many thanks to Rick Stump and his handy little Kubota loader for a quick lift out of the creek! Our tractor isn't made for tight spaces like this.

It's nice and cold early this year, so we've spent the last few days getting some taps in! We'd ordinarily do this closer to the middle of the month but with several too-warm Februarys in recent years, there's no point in waiting. We even had an audience this year!
