The Jast Family Farm will once again have pork available this fall! See our 2018 Available Pork list for offerings! As always, our hogs are pasture raised and receive a mix of mash feed, hay, and vegetables from our garden, as well as the occasional table scraps. No antibiotics, hormones, or steroids used.
In addition to the individually packaged cuts we've offered in the past, we are also offering HALF HOG and WHOLE HOG bulk sales this year, with custom butchering options. Details are below. Overall, if you go with this route, you receive quite a bit more pork at a reduced rate, and you get to decide all the details of how you'd like the hog processed (types of cuts, what gets cured/smoked, etc.)!
Option #1: You can purchase a WHOLE HOG for $1/lb hanging weight if picked up at the farm, or we will deliver to you or your processor of choice for a small fee.
Option #2: You can purchase a WHOLE HOG or HALF HOG for $2/lb hanging weight plus processing costs, and we deliver to the processor for you.
HALF HOG
An average-sized HALF hog will have a hanging weight of 75-100 lbs and result in about 50-70 lbs of meat to put in your freezer. The cost for an average HALF HOG will be $160 to $200 (paid to Jast Family Farm). Processing cost for a HALF HOG will be about $80 to $100 (paid to processor), depending on what cuts you want, how much you want seasoned, cured, etc.
WHOLE HOG
An average-sized WHOLE hog will have a hanging weight of 150-200 lbs and result in about 100-140 lbs of meat to put in your freezer. The cost for an average WHOLE HOG will be $320 to $400 (paid to Jast Family Farm). Processing cost for a WHOLE HOG will be about $150 to $200 (paid to processor), depending on what cuts you want, how much you want seasoned, cured, etc.
