We’re definitely not as bad off as 5 million bees on the loose… but we’ve all been under the weather this week, so we will miss the Mt. Pleasant Farmers Market today. Hopefully, we’ll be well enough to see you at the Grand Junction, Tennessee Farmers Market Saturday morning.

Police west of Toronto on Wednesday warned drivers to keep their car windows closed after a truck spilled crates carrying five million bees onto a road.

Whipped up something new to debut tomorrow morning at the Grand Junction, Tennessee Farmers Market - homemade honey BUTTER!

I shook fresh cream into homemade butter 💪💪, drizzled in some of our very own Fayette County honey, and added a healthy dash of cinnamon (think: Texas Roadhouse-level deliciousness 😋)

Stop by to see us tomorrow morning, Aug 26, from 8:30am-12:30pm.

Came home from the farmers market to a pleasant little surprise! This tree is in our backyard, and I call it my “Lucky Swarm Tree” because honey bee swarms are drawn to it like a magnet!

Bees typically swarm April-May when their numbers are increasing so fast that they run out of room. Unfortunately, a swarm this late in the season doesn’t have time to make enough honey to get them through the winter.

For today, we put them into their own box, but we’ll probably end up merging them with one of our existing hives, so they are strong enough & have enough resources to make it through the winter.

Today is also the first time my little Honey Helper (and photographer!) helped me catch a swarm! Isn’t he adorable in his pint-sized bee suit?!? 🥰🐝
