Evermore Farm, Moscow, Idaho Private horse farm in a beautiful setting. Our horses have run-in sheds and large exercise paddocks.

We no longer board horses but this page is maintained to keep in touch with former boarders, friends of Evermore Farm, and anyone who enjoys posts related to horses and events on the farm. Evermore Farm, Moscow, Idaho has transitioned from boarding stable to private horse farm and is no longer taking in new boarders. They may live alone or share a spot if that suits them better. After two days of miaowing at me from the juniper bush (and me talking back to the bush!),Pi has decided that I am his new best friend, ready for all the love he can get! He is clearly a pet who lost his way somehow. I can now confirm he is a skinny young un-neutered male, maybe about a year old. I still have no great photos because he is either too close and/or moving! If you think this may be your cat (he has been around for about six weeks) please message me!

So happy to be able to say it looks like all four of our four prematurely grounded fledgelings made it to the air! The parents did a great job of feeding and encouraging them - and dive bombing any cats that got close to Kelvin's shed where they were hiding. I have a feeling their angels were working overtime to keep them safe from hooves and claws too! The picture is of two of them taking a break from flight training :)

Bill has been fixing up the floor in one half of Tess' shed while she supervises from the other half. Tess is Bill's horse. Of course she likes machinery, maybe especially green tractors! ;)

It has been a strange August on the farm! The high temperatures and poor air quality have been hard on me and probably the horses too, so it has been more or less chores only for outdoor activities in the last few weeks. Today, it was slightly cooler, with better air and even a few sprinkles of rain. Maybe the rainbow that appeared in the cloudy skies is a promise of a return to fun pony time soon! 🌈

The temperature hit 100°F (40°C) today. In our horse shed, the baby swallows got so hot in their nest near the roof they jumped out and were hiding on the cooler floor behind the horse’s salt block. The adults know where they are and hopefully will take care of them until they can fly.

Update the next morning. Three little guys still in the shed. A momma came by and fed one of them while I was watching. I found the fourth little guy sitting on the fence in the next paddock while Gemma the pony eyed him up, hoping he would not stop me from giving her breakfast!

It’s harvest season. The neighbor who farms the land around us harvested more than 400 acres in less than 2 days over the weekend, and then moved on to harvest hundreds of acres more the following two days. With 4 combines, 2 grain carts to shuttle the grain to two grain trucks, a field of ripe wheat soon finds its way to a grain elevator.
