SOILTEST FARM CONSULTANTS, an employee owned Washington corporation, has been in operation since 1976 in Moses Lake. The SOILTEST LABORATORY provides soil, plant tissue, feed, water, and starting in 2007 compost and potting soil analyses to the farming, fertilizer, food processing and compost industries. The laboratory routinely processes over 26,000 samples a year from clients located throughout

Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana. SOILTEST agricultural consultants provide field services to growers throughout the Columbia Basin, north to the Canadian Border, and east as far as Spokane. Over 30,000 acres annually receive on farm field services including irrigation management, soil and plant tissue sampling, fertility consulting, or various combinations of crop production services on a commercial, price per acre, basis. In 1977, SOILTEST became the first commercial operation to become licensed to own and operate neutron moisture probes in the State of Washington. Neutron probes and ECH2O capacitance probes are currently used during the peak of the irrigation season. SOILTEST has contracted to perform wastewater use feasibility studies. Irrigation disposal options have been developed by SOILTEST for projects involving municipal, food processing, and industrial radioactive wastewater streams. SOILTEST has been active in projects defining the feasibility and safety of municipal compost utilization. SOILTEST is the only STA approved Tier I and Tier II compost testing laboratory in Washington State. Two of our consulting scientists have completed the Compost Facility Operator Training Program presented by Washington Organics and Recycling Council with assistance from Washington State University. At present, SOILTEST, employs two Ph.D. soil scientists, and a lab director with B.S. degrees in both soil science and animal science, three laboratory technicians, a field sales representative, compost specialist and an office staff of two. Additional field staff are utilized during the summer. The staff is well equipped with modern and efficient laboratory and computing facilities. The SOILTEST LABORATORY is accredited by the Washington Department of Ecology for the analysis of Drinking water, wastewater and solids. The laboratory is certified by the National Forage Testing Association for forage analyses and is NAPT-PAP approved for NRCS program soils testing. SOILTEST is community minded and provides free feed analyses for hay competitions at regional county fairs. SOILTEST has cooperated on several projects with Washington State University and USDA and various conservation districts by providing laboratory and consulting services. SOILTEST appreciates the importance of agricultural producers and processors.
