This is a special event. For any cattle rancher. However in most cases this girl would have been sent to slaughter and no one would have ever known she was actually special. In fact this is why she is still here. She was scheduled with the butcher for September. This is a cow that I raised because her mother died shortly after giving birth to this girl and her brother. Why is this so special? It's because this twin combination will result in the female calf being what's known as a Freemartin. That means that 85% of thos girl babies will be non-breeders. Incapable of pregnancy. But this girl is one of the 15% that can and do carry a calf! Needless to say, her September appointment has officially been canceled. Oh and she has a little heifer calf. (That's the term for a young female bovine) I'm just so happy that she beat the odds and gets to stay! ❤️

This is my dog, Wilma. Non of us was sure she would work out when got her. She was 6 months old and She seemed to hate all the other dogs and cats that live here. I kept her in a pen by herself for months. Only ever let her out for short, garded interactions. A few months ago I turned her loose. She grabbed every single Amazon pkg that showed up. Went after the other dogs and was pretty much a PITA. She is growing up tho. She spends most of her time with the milkers. This week when the does started kidding she really showed her value. She sticks right with the does while they are kidding. Just far enough from the doe so as not to bother. Look close. There is a newborn behind that water bucket. The milker pen is full of mommas with babies. The babies climb on and sleep with her. Oh and she doesn't bother the chickens either.
