There’s no better use for the deer cameras once the season ends than to use them in the quail pen 😎 Most of them have lost their plume feathers due to fighting, the spring molt will have them looking new again 👍🏼

What do you use for keeping your waterers from freezing? I've had a few friends ask me that, so l wanted to share an item that continues to work well for me. l use a 40ft Self Regulating Heat Tape for each of my 6' cages, with pipe insulation outside of the cages. I also place a couple old feed sacks over the water bucket. Having backup generators is the key for power outages in winter storms, but I also put a drain valve at the bottom of my water systems for a last resort to prevent freezing/bursting.

2 years ago I tried using aquarium tank heaters but the ones I got were regulated to 78°F, which was impractical for winter weather as they always stayed on and did nothing for the pipes. Last year I made the switch to this self regulating heat tape. It turns on at 39°F or below, and it turns off at 50°F. They are perfect for my setup.

What do you use?
