SNOW PEAS are a seasonal (spring only) crop and prefer cool rainy weather. They are mildly flavored and great when used in stir fry, salad and pasta dishes. 💓 Harvest when about 3 inches long and before the peas have fully developed in the pod. The whole pod is edible. They can be served raw or cooked. --- These are not the same as shelling peas!
Selectively pick every day and store in a refigerated container up to 7 days. Do not wash or tip the ends until you are ready to cook.
Rabbits love them too. Protect plants with netting when starting from seed. I have to check early every morning for those rascally rabbits. 🐇 🐰 🐇
Sharing tips -- as I only grow enough for my personal use.

Cultivating German chamomile flowers to their optimal state necessitates our daily oversight. The flowers are carefully dried for preservation, and they offer numerous culinary applications. A jelly made of roasted strawberries, chamomile tea, and honey was a delicious example. Please do not hesitate to inquire about fresh or dried options.
We are actively harvesting now, but we have additional plants that will provide flowers into summer.

Short attention span? Try growing radishes which take about 25 to 30 days from planting the seed to harvest. They do well in cool weather. French Dressing, known as a breakfast radish, is my favorite. This radish is not as spicy as some other varieties.
I served them sliced on a salad last night. Spouse loves them too!

TIP: Notice the netting on the 2nd picture. Rabbits, birds and squirrels will be happy to taste test the first greens in spring. Netting is very helpful.

Looking for ideas to use fresh asparagus? Consider making QUICHE. An asparagus, shallot, fontina cheese quiche is very good.
This is one of my go to recipes. 😉 Wish we had enough asparagus for the community, but our patch is just enough for our personal use. The voles destroyed the big patch.

We are getting ready for the R/Farm Distillery ""Garden Party"" on April 18th. It is bit early in the season, but I have some fresh RHUBARB that could be pulled for your personal use in the kitchen.

1.) Would anyone would like me to bring fresh stalks (limited)? Please Message me to reserve a bundle.

2.) I will bring Strawberry-Rhubarb Jam and a few jars of Roasted Strawberry-Chamomile Jelly. Delicious on scones and biscuits!

3.) Does anyone want baked goodies using rhubarb? No promises, but I would try to get something made and have numerous recipes. One of my favorites is Dream Bars.

WHO OUT THERE LOVES RHUBARB? ...
Did you know: Rhubarb is a spring vegetable with a high acid content. This led to a New York Court classifying it as a fruit for regulatory purposes in 1947. ðŸĪŠðŸĨ°

Did you know that some seeds can be sown outside a few weeks before your average last frost, when the soil temp is at least 45 degrees? Heirloom beets are a nutritious root vegetable for early summer harvest. Snowbird peas also like cool weather and the edible pods are delicious in stir fry. Another favorite is French dressing radish which is a little less cold tolerant; I usually have good luck planting early. Both the beets and radishes can be eaten raw, pickled or roasted. 💓 Glad we were able to get seeds into the garden beds before this much needed spring rain arrived.
Anyone else love these seasonal spring vegetables? RAISE YOUR HAND! ðŸĪš Possibly we will have enough for local farmers market delivery. ðŸŦ›ðŸŦœ
Meanwhile, let us all hope for several days of gentle rain.
