A HUGE thank-you to everyone who came out to see us at Winston-Salem’s Apple Fest and Oak Ridge Heritage Day! We loved being part of two wonderful community events and seeing so many familiar faces — and plenty of new ones, too. ❤️
It’s hard to believe we’re already booking into the new year! If you're planning a town festival, church event, school program, senior community event, corporate employee day, or family celebration we’d love to bring the farm to you!
Our Mobile Farm Experience brings the animals, the corral, the staff, and all the old-fashioned farm fun right to your event - with safety, animal care, and learning at the heart of everything we do.

🍎 Winston-Salem's Apple Festival 🐄 one of our favorite days of the year! 🍎🐄
On Saturday, September 26, Haystack Homestead Mobile Farm is heading back to Winston-Salem's Apple Festival at Historic Bethabara Park!
This is genuinely one of the biggest events on our calendar every year — tens of thousands of people come through — and there's nothing quite like watching that many families stop, slow down, and spend a few minutes with our favorite farm animals in the middle of it all.
We'll be bringing a wonderful group of farm animals, including:
🐄 mini-cow / bull
🐐Boer Goat
🐑Shetland Sheep
🐐 Nigerian Dwarf dairy goat
🐏 Angora fiber goat
🐎 Pony or mini-horse
And of course, our free animal feeding station will be there too — always included, always popular!
If you're planning an event for your town, school, church, organization, or a special family celebration, we'd love to bring a farm experience your way.

Come visit🚜 Haystack Homestead at Oak Ridge Heritage Day 🌿
We're honored to once again be part of Oak Ridge Heritage Day! We’ll be bringing a mobile farm experience to this amazing community celebration that's been going strong for a decade now.
We've been bringing Haystack Homestead 🌾Mobile Farm Experiences to events for nearly as long. And this is one of our favorite kinds of days - a festival where the community gathers together ... and eventually, everyone ends up visiting the farm corral and feeding their favorite animals. We are grateful to have a part in this. It’s why we love what we do.

Guests at Oak Ridge Heritage Day will get to meet:
🐄 A miniature cow
🦙 A llama or alpaca
🐐 Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats
🐑 Sheep
🐐 Angora fiber goat
🐴 A miniature horse or miniature donkey
And of course, our free animal feeding station — always included, always a favorite.

Our hearts go out to the families, community members, and event organizers affected by the recent rabies exposure warning in our region. ❤️

We also want to make it very clear that Haystack Homestead is completely independent and was NOT involved in or associated with this incident in any way.

As we enter our 5th year bringing our traveling farm experiences to the community, our approach to animal health and safety is built on something that goes back much further — we have cared for farm animals for decades. That experience has taught us that when it comes to the health and safety of animals and people, you simply don't take chances.

Here are some of the steps we take to help keep every event safe:
🐐 Regular Veterinary Care
Our animals receive routine veterinary care from a licensed farm-animal veterinarian, and we seek veterinary evaluation whenever an animal has a health concern, injury, bite, or other unusual incident.
💉 Vaccinations
Our animals are kept current on vaccinations including rabies vaccines. When a species-specific vaccine isn't available, we work with our veterinarian to use proven vaccination protocols, including off-label vaccines when appropriate.
🩺 We Don't Take Chances
If one of our animals is ever bitten, scratched, becomes ill, or has an unexplained health concern, that animal does not go to an event. We keep them home, follow appropriate quarantine and monitoring procedures, and consult with our veterinarian before they return to public interaction.

Your family's safety matters to us. So does the health and well-being of every animal in our care.

We are proud to bring safe, educational and joyful farm experiences to schools, parties, festivals and community events throughout our region — and we will continue to take that responsibility very seriously. ❤️🌾

Thank you for trusting Haystack Homestead.
