Our hearts go out to the families, community members, and event organizers affected by the recent rabies exposure warning in our region. ❤️

We also want to make it very clear that Haystack Homestead is completely independent and was NOT involved in or associated with this incident in any way.

As we enter our 5th year bringing our traveling farm experiences to the community, our approach to animal health and safety is built on something that goes back much further — we have cared for farm animals for decades. That experience has taught us that when it comes to the health and safety of animals and people, you simply don't take chances.

Here are some of the steps we take to help keep every event safe:
🐐 Regular Veterinary Care
Our animals receive routine veterinary care from a licensed farm-animal veterinarian, and we seek veterinary evaluation whenever an animal has a health concern, injury, bite, or other unusual incident.
💉 Vaccinations
Our animals are kept current on vaccinations including rabies vaccines. When a species-specific vaccine isn't available, we work with our veterinarian to use proven vaccination protocols, including off-label vaccines when appropriate.
🩺 We Don't Take Chances
If one of our animals is ever bitten, scratched, becomes ill, or has an unexplained health concern, that animal does not go to an event. We keep them home, follow appropriate quarantine and monitoring procedures, and consult with our veterinarian before they return to public interaction.

Your family's safety matters to us. So does the health and well-being of every animal in our care.

We are proud to bring safe, educational and joyful farm experiences to schools, parties, festivals and community events throughout our region — and we will continue to take that responsibility very seriously. ❤️🌾

We are so excited to be part of Rural Fest this year! 🚜

Rural Hall is sponsoring a FREE petting zoo for everyone to enjoy on Saturday, May 16th, from 1 to 5 PM - at Rural Fest!

We’re bringing the whole crew along - our llama, alpaca, Nigerian Dwarf goats, Shetland sheep, Angora goats, and of course a free feeding station. Rural Fest will be open 11am - 9pm at Covington Park (7450 Church Street). It's going to be a great day of country festival fun! Hope to see you there!
