Old Stonehouse Farm

Old Stonehouse Farm We are a small working farm located in Mount Bethel, Pennsylvania. We have grown and sold hay and feed to horse and cattle farms for over 40 years.

Breeding, raising, training and loving Andalusian horses has become a growing part of our lives. We always have pure and partbred stock available for purchase, and are currently standing our pure spanish stallion, Dichoso Uno, for limited bookings. We are always happy to answer any questions about our horses and farming in general and encourage visitors. Please contact us for our free promotional brochures and DVD.

How do you know when the hay is ready to make?

Every year, right about the time the orchard grass heads begin turning shades of purple, the farm seems to hold its breath. To most people it’s just a pretty field, but to a farmer it’s the first sign that hay season is here.

Those purple heads mean early mornings, watching the weather, and long dusty afternoons spent chasing dry hay before the next rain. The smell of fresh cut grass, wagons creaking through the fields, and sweat mixing with sunshine become part of everyday life again.

Around Old Stonehouse Farm, those purple fields have always felt like the beginning of summer’s real work — and somehow, its most beautiful work too.

Happy National Burger Day!

There’s something about burgers on the farm that feels like the start of summer.

By late afternoon, the farmhouse kitchen begins to fill with the smell of beef sizzling on the stove or the old grill outside. Fresh sliced tomatoes, onions, and baskets of potatoes cover the counter while everyone slowly wanders in hungry from the day’s work. Someone is always sneaking a taste before supper’s ready.

Outside, the animals settle in for the evening as the screen door swings open and shut and tired boots cross the porch one more time before gathering around the table.

There’s nothing fancy about it. Just good beef, soft buns, and the kind of meal that brings people together without needing much invitation.

At Old Stonehouse Farm, burgers aren’t just something to eat — they’re part of the rhythm of farm life. Simple food, raised with care, shared with family, and best enjoyed hungry.

Homegrown. Homemade. And served with stories around the kitchen table.
