Your childโs first day of school.
Selling your starter home and moving into your dream home.
Graduation day.
What do all of those things have in common? Theyโre bittersweet, a paradoxical state where joy and sorrow intertwine and exist at the same time.
As 2025 was ending and 2026 approached, we found our own experience of bittersweet in the decision to close The FARMily.
For nearly 4 wonderful years, we have been blessed to bring you the best eggs, sweetest honey, and most useless chicken facts.. unless you find a farm themed trivia night somewhere! ๐คฃ We opened our coop doors and shared an inside look at the life and love of chickens, bees, and some gardening too. Through the love of our chicky-mamas we were able to spread a little love and laughter with the world. Each week, in our Hen-ployee of the week posts, you let me ramble on about chicken breeds, feather patterns and colors, egg shell colors, and combs and waddles, while I introduced you to each member of our flock by their wacky names. I truly had so much fun with those crazy birds and I think I spent so much time with them that I became a crazy bird myself. ๐๐คช
Meeting new people, connecting with other farms and small businesses in our communities. Through the farm our span of connections grew and grew and grew, and with each new growth we were blessed with more amazing people in our life. Our customers became friends, and those friendships became family and that gave true meaning to our name. When we first began throwing around the idea of starting a farm, we knew we wanted our name to be something extra special and meaningful. We tossed around hundreds of ideas until one day I jokingly said โthank you for supporting our little FARMilyโ and as soon as the words left my mouth I knew that there was no better name out there. We wanted to create a place where everyone felt welcomed and loved, like you were coming home to family, and at the same time getting an up close and personal experience of farm life. We wanted our birds to be treated, not just as egg producers, but as pets and honorary members of the family. We wanted to find a way to share some sunshine, positivity, and joy with others, and show a slower way of living. While we did so much to create this dream on our own, our amazing customers are what truly made us The FARMily! We are forever grateful for everyoneโs support, but our loyal customers are what kept us going for as long as we did. Some have been with us for 1, 2, 3, some almost 4 years even! Picking up egg orders like clockwork on a regular schedule, biweekly Mondays, every third Thursday, end of each month, whatever timeframe they needed to keep their egg supply stocked. Before I made any other plans for my life, I knew I needed to check my egg schedule first! ๐๏ธ๐ So to our incredible regulars, we extend an extra special thank you! You didnโt just get to know us because of our farm posts, you took the time to get to know us on a deeper level. Our regularly scheduled egg meets turned into little chat and sometimes therapy sessions. When I was hoping to have a positive impact on the lives of others, it was our amazing customers that truly enriched our own lives. When my mom passed away unexpectedly in 2024, our customers rallied together offering us meals, cards, flowers, texts, and all the love and support to help carry me through the hardest days. You truly made us feel so loved, valued, and supported in our farm venture and in everyday life. Best of all, you trusted us and opened up to allow us to get to know YOU. We feel so honored and privileged that you allowed us to be a part of your daily lives during mealtimes, but more importantly through all the most special moments as well. We were there through baby announcements, 1st birthdays, new homes, surgeries, career changes, loss of loved ones, and so much more. Itโs because of these solid friendships that I was able to find peace in the decision to close the farm. Because I know that itโs not the eggs that bind us together anymore, itโs the love.
Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end. After selling Dixie River Terrains in 2024, we took some time to travel, rest, and decide where we wanted to go for our next career adventures. We are now both back working regular-schmegular jobs, no more dirt digging or chicken coop cleaning for us and CERTAINLY no entrepreneurship! Haha We are so appreciative for everyone who made our farm dreams come true, and we are so excited about the future and not having to go collect eggs every day in the freezing cold/blazing heat. ๐
All that to say, thank you for an amazing experience. We love you! And as my mom always used to say โyou be sweet!โ ๐ซต๐ป๐ซถ๐ป
P.S in the coming months, we will be selling all our our farm supplies; feeders and tubs, watering systems, storage containers, incubator, brooders, even some of the coops if you can get a flatbed back here to haul it off! So if you or someone you know wants to start or upgrade their own farm, send them our way for a full setup of options! And for anyone wondering or worried about the future of our girls, we will be sending them to live with other chicken loving friends and family, to be spoiled for the rest of their daysโฆ. Plus those birds are a bunch of users anyway so they wonโt miss us at all! ๐
Ok, bye for real this time! I love you!! ๐ค๐
