Open Door Pantry, Mt. Jackson We are open every THIRD Thursday of the month from 12pm - 6pm in the back parking lot of the Shenandoah County Community Center. We will not turn anyone away.

Mission Statement:
Open Door Food Pantry (Mt. Jackson) was established in 1992 to ease food insecurity throughout the central Shenandoah Valley. We provide bakery goods, fresh produce, meats, eggs, canned goods, bread and other food. Anyone needing food can receive food, subject to availability. Some food is only available to people who meet USDA qualifications and we can help you to know if you

qualify. Food is distributed the third Thursday of every month between 1 pm – 6 pm, or as otherwise announced on this page. Come to 11278 Old Valley Pike, north of Mt. Jackson on Route 11. Pull into the pantry driveway. Stay in your car and a volunteer will greet and assist you. If the pantry is closed due to weather, we will open, weather permitting, the next day, Friday from 1pm – 6 pm. Look on this page updates in these situations. We receive food from various organizations such as the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, USDA, Food Lion and other grocery outlets, churches, community organizations and individuals. We also purchase selected nutritious food thanks to financial support from local people. Donations to the Pantry are tax deductible. We are a 501 (c)3 organization. Mail your check to Open Door Food Pantry (Mt. Jackson), P.O. Box 292, Mt. Jackson 22842. Make checks payable to the Open Door Food Pantry (Mt.Jackson). Food donations can be dropped off in the tub located in front of the pantry by the double doors. Weather can compromise food safety, so when you leave food there or have food that requires refrigeration, please call 540-335-6500.

❄️ When the weather turns harsh, hunger doesn’t pause. ❄️

As this winter storm moves through our community, many families are facing more than icy roads and power outages — they’re worrying about how to put food on the table.

Our food pantry is preparing now to meet increased need, but winter stretches our resources thin. Monetary donations allow us to quickly purchase essentials like fresh food, milk, meat, and other necessities — exactly what families need during storms like this.

• $10 - A one time donation adds up when everyone chips in.

• $20 - Consider a small monthly donation - you'll probably never notice the deduction (think: the cost of one cup of coffee per week).

What you can do: Many food banks prefer cash donations. They know what's needed most and can buy wholesale at cheaper prices. If you're planning on donating food, these products are among the most helpful.
