As some of you know, I’m a survivor of the Route 91 shooting in Vegas (10/1/17). I’m also the Co-Founder and Co-Director of the HEART Peer Support Program, for anyone impacted by any mass violence incident (MVI), through the Resiliency & Justice Center (https://resiliencyandjustice.org/heart/)
Each month, we offer a free educational program for those impacted by a MVI. Our April First Tuesdays with HEART presentation was an important one featuring Crystal Woodman Miller, Columbine survivor, author, and mother of 3, discussing the difficult topic of Talking to Kids About Mass Shootings. Unfortunately this is a conversation that needs to be had with our kids, but often parents (understandably) don't know where to start. Crystal shares some conversation starters that might be helpful for anyone trying to figure out how to have this hard conversation. Here is the link to the presentation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hLps1lIYYk
I also wanted to share links to two of the books written by Crystal. The first book might be helpful with the discussion as well ~
