I’m making a few adjustments to the Shed schedule:

SUNDAY — CLOSED.

I may pop a few things in the Shed, but it won’t be a big Shed day.

Saturday will be a big shed day. Fully stocked and somehow still will miss something you want, so speak now if you have any weekend demands.

IT’S WEDNESDAY!! Which means I’m BACK IN THE KITCHEN! 🙌🏼🍞

I really try to take Mondays and Tuesdays off. Leo and I usually use those days to explore, get out of the house, and find ourselves a little adventure.

Yesterday’s adventure was… the dentist. 🤣
Can’t win ’em all.

BUT TODAY — the ovens are back on and the Shed will open at 4! 🎉

And it seems like a pretty good day for another GIVEAWAY. 👀

Yesterday you may have noticed I didn’t have any inclusion loaves in the shed....

In case you were wondering why, the only explanation I can give you is that apparently I LOVE putting more things on my plate. And about 3 pm I decided to just bake them this morning. So they got a little more of that sourdough tang in the fridge overnight. 🤣🤣

At the beginning of this week I found out that August 30th is American Farmstand Day.

So naturally I thought, “You know what would be fun? A FARMSTAND CRAWL.” 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

And somehow here we are.

I gathered up some of the hardest-working farmers, bakers, makers and small business owners in Wilson County, and TOMORROW you guys get to go love on them.

I’ve got a map with most of the participating stands — and a couple more still to add — but can we just imagine for a second...

WHAT IF WE SOLD THEM ALL OUT?!

It’s not lost on me how incredibly lucky I am with the Bread Shed.

I wake up. I bake. I walk everything out to the shed... and somehow you wonderful people just SHOW UP.

No weekends spent setting up at farmers markets. No delivery routes. No hauling tables and tents around. I get to stay home and do my favorite thing, and you guys come support me.

That is pretty freaking special.

So tomorrow, I’m calling on my amazing customers to spread some of that love around Wilson County. ❤️

Go visit these stands. Buy something. Meet the people behind them. Try something you’ve never had before.

And then REPORT BACK. 👀

I want to hear where you went and what your favorite finds were.

And OF COURSE there will be a giveaway involved because apparently organizing an entire Farmstand Crawl wasn’t enough for me this week. 🤣🤣

And listen… the Classic Loaves might be the most beautiful loaves I’ve ever made. Everything went right today. The dough behaved. The loaves understood the assignment. We love to see it.

Today we are honoring a legend. 🩷

A woman who made us all feel like she was our friend.
The one who never really felt famous.
The one who could look at just about any situation and find the light.

When my grandparents passed, my Uncle JR preached (y’all, he can PREACH) about how our job here is really pretty simple: love God and love people, and the rest figures itself out.

I’ve thought about that a lot today.

Dolly was bigger than life because she loved people unapologetically.

At a time when so many women were being asked to conform, she reformed the norm.

She took the time to talk to people. She took the time to hear their stories. She loved people. All people.

And somehow, through all the fame and success and everything that came with being Dolly Parton, she never seemed to lose herself in all the stuff.

In an industry that changes so many people, she changed it.

There are some people who just feel like home.
Warm. Caring. Nurturing.
Like there’s a light that follows them into a room.

Dolly did that better than just about anyone.

She loved loving others. She brought people up with her. She reminded us to be grateful, to laugh at ourselves, to keep going, and to never be afraid of being exactly who God made us to be.

So today, we’re celebrating Dolly the way we know how around here — with butter, sugar, carbs and a whole lotta love. 🩷

🍌 “The Dolly” — a Banana Pudding Cookie topped with a vanilla wafer crumble.

🥥 Coconut Cake — with pink coconut buttercream frosting, because obviously today it had to be pink.

🍫 Chocolate Cake — you know the one. The chocolate cake that knocks them all out, covered in chocolate buttercream.

Dolly brought a special kind of feeling to so many people. The way she spoke, encouraged, laughed and loved gave hope to people who had lost it — and reminded the rest of us that maybe we really can do the thing.

What a beautiful way to spend a life.

Love God. Love people. The rest figures itself out.

Today, we’ll eat some cake for our girl. 🩷
