Dear Cake Lovers -

As of October 1, I will be pausing on taking custom orders. I’ve found myself in a season where my time is not as much my own. If you know me personally, you’re not surprised as I’ve shared about my experiences in the sandwich generation. Between regular visits to GA/VA to visit aging parents, career tasks and the demands of our school-aged children, I’m finding it hard to juggle the important dates of my customers.

I don’t plan to give up baking. I’ll have walk-up bakery sales and holiday specials so I can still see my favorite people. I hope you’ll continue to enjoy a slice of Love is Baking in that capacity.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. This is my season for family.

Forgive the bluntness of the music, but this is my reality. Mother’s Day is hit or miss for me each year. Some years, it is light and fun and others, a little heavy. As I ease into Mother’s Day this year, I feel good. I think about my mom daily. Almost 12 years ago, she transitioned. When my daughter says something hilarious, I think of her. When my son says something deep and witty, I think of her. She was all those things. Though my mama’s gone, her legacy and presence is strong in my heart and in my kids.

Love all you moms (moms by birth, by choice and in spirit).

Hi Cake Lovers,

So, I have been working on something. This past year, I have been on a health journey. I started having a number of reactions to foods and started experiencing quite a bit of stomach pain. Given my familial history of stomach-related illnesses, I started a journey to try to identify the culprits. While it seemed my body was turning against me, I started doing some research. I began with a food sensitivity test and starting tracking what I was eating to help me identify how I was feeling after consuming certain foods. It has been the turning point I needed to start feeling normal again.

With the help of my talented cousin, Erica Bacon, who designed the cover artwork, I created a food journal. From sharing my experiences with friends and family, I learned I am not the only one experiencing these types of symptoms. I wanted to create something to help people during their health journey as well.

My food journal went live today on Amazon. I hope you'll pick up a copy if you think you or someone might need a companion in a similar health journey!
