Help Us Save Duke, Our Family’s Loyal Companion

Hi, my name is Ryan, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart for help with our beloved dog, Duke.

Duke is a half-boxer, half-bulldog who has been part of our family for seven years. My girlfriend rescued him from a terrible situation—he was neglected for so long that no one even knew how long he’d been there. The night she brought him home, he climbed into her lap and never left her side. He was her only companion through some of the hardest times, and he helped her through the beginning of the pandemic until she met me.

When I met my girlfriend, I quickly realized how important Duke was to her. I wanted to spend more time with her, so I suggested she bring Duke over. From that night on, he never left my house—and he became my best friend, too. Two years ago, our daughter Remedy was born, and Duke instantly became her protector and best buddy. She’s never known life without him.

Duke is also blind, but you’d never know it from the way he loves us and especially our daughter Remedy. Even though he can’t see her, he always knows when she’s near-he feels her hugs, hears her laughter, and somehow, they always find each other. Their bond is proof that love doesn’t need sight.

Recently, Duke’s health has taken a turn. A couple of years ago, he had a seizure, and we managed it with gabapentin. But now, he’s having seizures every morning, (4 in total now) and he struggles to get up after each one. He needs a new medication—phenobarbital—and a full vet workup, including bloodwork and a rabies shot. The costs are overwhelming: new patient fees, tests, shots, and medication, which could easily total $1,000 or more. We’ve tried everything, including applying for CareCredit, but we were denied, and we have nothing left to put toward his care.

Duke is more than a pet—he’s family. He’s been there for us through every challenge, and now he needs our help. We’re asking for help to cover his medical costs so he can get the treatment he needs and continue being Remedy’s best friend.

Any amount helps, and we promise to document Duke’s journey and share updates with everyone who supports us. If we raise more than we need for his immediate care, every extra dollar will go toward improving Duke’s quality of life.

Thank you for reading Duke’s story and for any help you can give. Your kindness means the world to our family.

Frozen Stuffed Flounder with White Wine Deglaze

I've created a recipe for frozen stuffed flounders that incorporates a white wine deglaze technique that is out of this world! This is how I make them for my family.

This recipe uses a glass casserole dish and allows the flounders to caramelize in butter before creating a delicious sauce with the pan drippings.

A few notes about the recipe:

The cooking time may vary depending on the size and thickness of your frozen stuffed flounders. Always ensure they're cooked through to an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
You can adjust the amount of garlic and shallot to your taste preferences.
The type of white wine you use will affect the flavor of the sauce. A dry white wine like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio works well.
Be careful when removing the hot glass casserole dish from the oven and when deglazing it on the stovetop to avoid thermal shock.

Frozen Stuffed Flounder with White Wine Deglaze

Ingredients:
4 frozen stuffed flounder fillets
4 tbsp unsalted butter
1/2 cup dry white wine
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 shallot, finely chopped
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a glass casserole dish, melt 2 tablespoons of butter.
Place the frozen stuffed flounder fillets in the dish, on top of the melted butter.
Bake the flounder for about 25-30 minutes, or until they start to caramelize in the butter and are cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
Carefully remove the casserole dish from the oven and transfer the flounder fillets to a plate, keeping them warm.
Place the casserole dish on the stovetop over medium heat.
Add the white wine to deglaze the dish, scraping up any caramelized bits from the bottom with a wooden spoon.
Add the minced garlic and chopped shallot to the dish, cooking for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and stir until melted and incorporated into the sauce.
Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
Return the flounder fillets to the casserole dish and spoon the sauce over them.
Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley.
Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
Enjoy your delicious frozen stuffed flounder with a flavorful white wine deglaze!

Anyone please have experience with a slightly larger dog around 10 to 12 yrs old boxer/bulldog mix.... having a seizure, and then not wanting to stop walking around everywhere?!

If anyone has similar experience. Please respond!

My dog just fell off the bed maybe three feet. Had a seizure. Pi**ed himself.

He's drank a ton of water and I took him outside to p**s some more. I know it's late, I'm sorry....
