Is this how family farms turn corporate?? The cows are now having morning meetings at the water cooler without us! 😳😂

Any guesses what they’re discussing?

That’s a joke folks! In all seriousness, over 96% of farms in the U.S. are considered family farms according to USDA. It’s usually love that starts a farm. Love of the land, the livestock, the lifestyle, the people. Two people get married and decide to work together from sun up til sun down for minimal pay and guaranteed set backs and no days off. It’s not because they’re business partners, it’s because they’re married and love each other and this industry we call agriculture! And they’re often crazy enough to have big families and think the next generation will want to follow in their footsteps…hence the continuation of the family farm.

We’re all family here! Jerseys and the campers going spelunking included! 😀

Hello 👋🏻 This time of the year we are busy checking calving pastures! Twice a day everyday and some days more if there’s anything extra happening.

We drive an ATV or 4-Wheeler through the pasture with the goal of putting eyes on every single momma cow and calf. That means we’re driving the perimeter and checking under every cedar tree and around every hiding spot to find them! Momma cows are really good at finding a secluded place to give birth and protect their baby calf for the first 24-48 hours.

When a cow has a calf, we make sure both are healthy and then place an ear tag in the calf’s ear to identify who it is and who it’s mom is. We also take a small ear punch that allows us to collect genomics on the calf. This data is super useful in telling us how this animal is going to grow, how docile he or she will be, and even how much marbling it will have!

Attention! We are now booking Half & Whole Beef Shares!

We will be processing our next group of Angus steers on August 12th and have several half and whole beef shares available for you. (USDA-inspected processor, 21-day extended dry age, flash-frozen and vacuum-sealed product)

Quick breakdown:

🍔A half beef will put 200 pounds of beef in your freezer.
➡️Ground beef, patties, brisket, tri-tip, chuck roasts, ribeyes, filets, sirloins, NY strips, and more!
🥩You can select what cuts you prefer, size, and thickness of steaks!
🏆Total investment (including processing) will be approx. $1,900. That's only $9.50 a pound for premium-quality Angus beef in your freezer. (We retail Ribeye Steaks for $30/pound individually and CAN NOT keep them in stock with the crazy demand for them!)

We ask for an upfront deposit of $100 for a half and the final payment is due at pickup. *Please note we do not ship half or whole shares. We offer local pickup at our store in Verona, VA*
