Hello Friends.
Its that time of year we do Winter plant maintenance.. My plant collection has tripled in 2024. Winter is the perfect time for repotting, pruning, and propagating. Anyone looking dusty got a shower. I didn't have to many that needed repotting. I did most of that in the fall before I brought most of them in but some babies needed upgraded.
My Klanacheos needed a restart. They were looking really leggy and ugly. So I cut what I thought I would need. Rooted them. Then potted them up. I usually have to do this every year. Also be sure to spray with seven before bringing in. Aphids love coming in on them. Found out the hard way last year. Otherwise they are low maintenance.
I pruned my wandering jews and purple heart Tradescantia. Made lots of babies. New to Tradescantias. They sure grow fast. The pistachio Tradescantia is my favorite. It's less picky. The purple stripped variety is a pain. Grows fast. Dries out fast too. So battling crispy leaves. So that one may be looking for a new home.
I also pruned my pothos and Syngoniums. New to both of these as well. Syngonium are quickly becoming my favorite plants. They have so many pretty colors. So far I have a pink one, white butterfly and a dark purplish one.
Monestera are another variety Im liking. I've got a couple narrow Monestera(swiss cheese) and a baby large Monestera rooting in water. Very new to them as well. One of my narrow ones is getting yellow leaves all of a sudden so I've gotta figure that out. Shouldn't be soil or nutrients. Was repotted in Nov.
I didn't do anything with my Christmas cactuses yet. They just finished blooming. Wasn't a good bloom this year so they will be needing attention soon. I've got 4 different colors, white, red, white and pink, and yellow. The yellow one I've struggled with for 3 years now. Never looks healthy. The other 3 do great.
For years I stuck with the same 4 types of houseplants(Klanacheos, spider plant, Christmas cactus and Umbrella tree). Finally I felt confident enough to try new ones. I'm sure I'll fail with some but excited for all the new greenery in the house.
I'm adding new hanging bars and shelves to get the plants on the wall and off tables . I'm sure my table will always have plants on it. I'm just getting ready for seed starting for the garden.
My cheery pits were sprouting in the fridge so I potted up some of those. That empty spot on the table is now full again.
Once it gets warm I'll be open to trades... It's been so hard to not buy any plants the last month. I've seen so many good deals too.
What will be available:
Pink Syngonium
Dark Purple Syngonium
Variegated Spider plant
Regular spider plant
Green pothos
Pistachio Tradescantia
Purple Striped Tradescantia
Purple Heart Tradescantia

Food plot trees or bush 6-12 inch
Cherry tree ( grown from seed )
Apple tree ( grown from seed )
Elderberry bush

If you made it this far Thank you and please don't forget to like this post. ❤️

Hello Friends,
Sorry I've not done a update in a while. Once hay season took off things on the farm got super busy. Hay season ended Sept 15th here in our area so the alfalfa has a chance to build up nutrients to survive winter. We had a few hiccups along the way but we got it done.
The garden is slowly dieing off. Most the tomatoes have blight at this point. We've had 2 light frosts as well. Tonight will be a harder frost. I'll cover the kale and let everything else go to sleep for winter.
I canned up the last of the tomatoes yesterday. Made 20 pints of 3 sister salsa( tomatoes, tomatillos, and ground cherry), 13 tomatoe/tomatillo salsa. The 3 sister salsa is a big hit with the family. My own recipe..
I've got to pick the last of the peppers today. I'm sad to see all the zinnias and marigolds frost. I'll grab more seed from them today for next season. This was my 3rd year growing the same marigolds. They're way over achievers and I'll grow them again next year.
We are almost to peek color season for the trees. Just beautiful to just take a drive and look at all the colors.
A few pictures of Olivia on her first tractor ride. The last pictures is when they got off the tractor. She was not happy at all. Daddy's little farm girl.
Happy almost Fall y,all..

Hello friends
Garden update. I've added a few new things to the garden. First my Hardy Hibiscus that I've had over 5 years now as a house plant. My plant collection has grown, so I'm taking a chance and putting her by the garden. She must be happy cause she is blooming. I just need to mulch her in and put up protection from rabbits. I had 3 rhubarb dormant and waiting for a home. Decided to plant them. I'll have lots next year fir canning.
My dad used to make rhubarb juice and store it in old litter soda bottles in the freezer. He'd use it as the liquid in cakes, muffins, pancakes ect.. was delicious.
The garden is producing like crazy now. Atleast the tomatoes are. Peppers I'm letting go red for seeds. Cabbages need a few more weeks before harvest. Overall happy with the garden. I am dealing with stink bugs in my acorn squash, butternut squash and giant pumpkin. Been squashing them. Most beautiful garden I've had though. Lots of flowers everywhere. You can hear all the bees and humming birds buzzing around. Love spending my mornings outside by the garden with the kids watching all the activity. So many toads too and garden spiders.
Mason gets his magnifying 🔎 glass out and looks at all the bugs and flowers. Beautiful place to explore for the little ones.
Started planting my fall garden. Another round of cucumbers, carrots,Swiss chard, beets and wax beans.
I hope all your gardens are beautiful and thriving.

Hello friends,
Boy it's been such a busy summer so far. We usually hire out to have our hay done but this year we decided to do square bales on our own. We actually like doing hay this way. Brings back so many memories for both of us. Me it takes me back to my first job at 13. During summer break when I visited my mom I worked at Gohmans Farm by Wonewoc unloading wagons of hay on the elevator. In between wagons I'd go brush the retired horses. It's a great workout as well.
The garden is really starting to produce. So the last few days I've been dehydrating. Not enough tomatoes yet to can but that's good cause we're working on 2nd crop hay. The only thing I've canned so far this year is dandelion jelly. Always have to can atleast 6 pints of that. One of our favorites.
The flowers are really blooming in the garden now. Here are some pictures of all the beauty around the yard and garden. Also a few of PA Boone (75 years young) out helping pickup bales. He works harder then most half his age. He does it cause he loves it. A few of the kids as well. Mason running on the round bales from first crop and Olivia snatched a pepper outta the garden. Love that the kids can go out to the garden and grab a healthy snack. More kids need this..

Hello Friends,
Life with 2 kids 5 and under definitely have been keeping me busy. The garden is looking great. My lilies are blooming so I'm in my happy place. All the things growing brings me so much joy. Got lots of baby trees starting to sprout. Hoping to have a nice variety this fall. Also started some fall seeds for the garden. The mulberries and black raspberries are almost done. Kids have been visiting the berries everyday. Coming home with purple hands and faces. I love it though. Sold our first round of steers and about to bring in group 2 and w**d out a couple older cows to be sold as well. We are done with first crop hay and will be starting 2nd crop very soon. This has definitely been a better spring/summer for farming.

Wishing you all a Happy 4th of July.....

Happy Naked Gardening Weekend....

Got out in the woods a bit the last couple evenings. Not seeing any oysters mushrooms yet. Found a dozen thumb sized Morels last night. Finding lots of false morels and half morels. Some people say you can eat them but I'm not brave enough. Few pictures I took.
Lastly is our new fish tank. Mason wanted fish so we got some and discovered we all love having fish. I of course threw plants in it. I've done alot of research on aquariums and growing plants in them. I got some tetras for tank mates for our rainbow shark and at first the shark wasn't happy and chased them. Tetras general hang out in the middle to top of the tank so I threw in spider plants and a peacelily so they had a place to hide. They all get along now. Most the videos I watched they just have the roots in the water but I threw the whole spider plant in the water. They haven't died yet but are growing roots and thriving. The peacelily is still adjusting to not being in soil. The spider plants were never in soil.. They're babies off my big spider plant. I've got lots more if the ones in the tank die. Last picture is the best way I've found to feed our snails cauliflower. They like veggies so had to find a way to keep it on the bottom. Had these long skewers sitting around so tried it. Works great. You can see the mystery snails 🐌 coming for a nibble. They have a great sense of smell. Got a 55 gallon tank I haven't setup yet. Trying to decide where I want it. Hope everyone had a happy productive weekend.
