Now, most of ours are calm as can be… but there are always one or two that make you keep your head on a swivel—especially at feeding time. A 1,200 lb mama doesn’t have to mean harm to do some serious damage if you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Good morning from the farm! 🚜🌄

One of our hardest-working “employees” is this 2019 Chevy 3/4-ton Duramax Silverado. She’s the muscle behind all the heavy hauling, the long days, and even carries our most precious cargo — the kiddos. ❤️👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

So today, she’s getting a well-deserved spa day: fresh oil, a clean air filter, transmission flush, and a good ol’ tire rotation. Because even the toughest workhorses need a little love to keep going strong. 💪🛠️

Is social media ruining farming?

Because it sure feels like more and more folks are worried about getting the “perfect farm aesthetic” rather than actually doing the work that real farming takes!

Everyone wants the cute chore videos, the pretty barns, the clean boots, and the picture-perfect animals…
but nobody wants to show the busted knuckles, the late-night checks, the mud up to your knees, or the stress that comes with keeping livestock alive and healthy.

Farming isn’t a photoshoot — it’s a lifestyle built on sweat, sacrifice, and responsibility.

Are we raising livestock…
or raising content?

I’m genuinely curious what people think.
Is social media helping agriculture… or hurting it?🤔

Rabbits and Horses: Digestive
Twins in Different Sizes! 🐎 🐇

Despite their size difference, rabbits and horses share the most similar digestive systems and dental structure among domestic herbivores.

Both rabbits and horses are monogastric herbivores with a simple stomach for initial digestion. A large cecum and colon where microbial fermentation breaks down fibrous plant material and they rely on symbiotic microbes to extract nutrients from cellulose.

Both are:
Hindgut fermenters
* They rely on microbial fermentation in the cecum and colon to break down fibrous plant material.
* Their digestion depends on long strand, indigestible fiber like hay to keep the gut moving and microbes balanced.

Continuously growing teeth.
* Both species have similar structured hypsodont teeth, meaning their teeth grow continuously and must be worn down through chewing.
* Hay provides the abrasive texture and chewing duration needed to prevent dental overgrowth.

Hay = Fuel for Fermentation.
Hay provides long strand, indigestible fiber, which Keeps the gut moving and supports microbial health. This Prevents Gl stasis (rabbits) and colic (horses). Without hay, both species are at risk for:

* Microbial imbalance
* GI stasis or colic
* Dental overgrowth
* Behavioral frustration

Hay is a Digestive Foundation.
* Horses: Hay (or pasture) makes up the bulk of their diet. Grain is a supplement, not a staple.
* Rabbits: Hay should be 70-80% of their diet. Pellets and greens are a supplement not a staple.

Same Biology, Same Rules!
We would never feed a horse only grain or vegetables it would cause colic, acidosis, and behavioral stress. Likewise, feeding a rabbit only greens or pellets ignores their biological need for fiber and chewing. A diet void of hay goes against their biology. 🤍🐴

Happy birthday to the man who truly keeps our family and our farm grounded.

You are the steady hands and the calm voice behind so much of what makes our life work. You teach our children far more than how to do chores or fix what’s broken—you teach them who to be.

You show them what kindness looks like in action… how to help without being asked, how to notice when something needs done, and how to care for the animals that rely on us every single day.
You teach them that hard work matters, but so does patience, grit, and doing things the right way even when it’s the harder way.

You teach them to build with their own hands and trust their own minds—to think outside the box, to problem-solve, and to believe there is always a way forward if you’re willing to try.
And through it all, you do it with humility, humor, and a heart that loves us so deeply.

We are so proud of the example you set, and so incredibly thankful to be living this life by your side.

Happy birthday—we love you more than you’ll ever know. ❤️🌾

There’s something powerful about starting the day with gratitude for the simple things God provides. This verse says it all — He gives the grass for the cattle, the herbs for our work, and the blessings of the earth so we can nourish our families and communities.

Out here on the farm, we see His handiwork every single day. From the pastures under our boots to the livestock we’re entrusted with, it’s all a reminder of His faithfulness!
