The fruits (flowers) of our labor! How fun are these bouquets?! The featured flowers this week are campanula, dianthus, snapdragons, bupleurum, dahlias(!), and our new fav flower Veronica that adds so much sparkle and whimsy. Plus, a few sweet pea bunches that smell so so so good.

Get your flower fix at the Saturday morning 7:30-12pm and our Farm Store in Mt Vernon, open 9-12. We’ll have the very first 🍓🍓🍓 strawberries 🍓🍓🍓 and a lot of beautiful lettuce, herbs, and fresh produce at the Farm Store. Our 🌱 last chance 🌱 plant sale is happening at the farm only (no plants heading to Iowa City). We’re serving up some breakfast burritos and strawberry-rhubarb parfaits.

See you there?!

Last call for plants, y’all! Get them this weekend before they’re no longer available! This weekend is the last chance to get vegetable and herb starts. We’ll have native plants around for a few more weeks but this is the final weekend for sale prices and bulk discounts. Swipe through for an updated list of what we have available.

All starts will be at our Farm Store only (we will not have them at the Iowa City Farmer’s Market). Make a trip up to the farm to shop for plants, eat some food, and hang out!

🥪 Food at the Flower Farm 🌯 we’ve got good eats for you every Thursday evening and Saturday morning!

Chef Savana has been making some exceptionally tasty meals over the last two months and her baked goods are 🔥🔥🔥. Our menus change weekly to feature in-season produce and delicious ingredients from our farm and regional food businesses. We always have gluten-free and vegetarian friendly options and prioritize using organic ingredients when possible. Come on by to enjoy some food on our patio, bring a blanket to picnic on the lawn, or swing through to grab food to go.

Open Thursday 4-7pm and Saturday 9am-12pm

If anyone tells you the straw is seed free… you better confirm that for yourself before you lay it out! Lessons learned. The Rhu Crew knocked out an excellent weeding session and saved the garlic from getting taken over by oat straw. Of course, we had to save the self-seeded chamomile to harvest before it too gets weeded out eventually. Lots and lots of garlic and garlic scapes incoming soon, which also means the return of ’s infamous Garlic Scape Chimichurri 🤤. We’re growing many different certified organic herbs and vegetables at the home farm and many are nearing their harvest date - find ‘em all in the Farm Store throughout the season! If you want to know what fresh produce we’ll have in the Farm Store, sign up for our weekly email newsletter via our website.

I’m quite sure campanula was the first cut flower I ever harvested my first year working with .flora. I had no idea how to harvest it. It’s not the easiest flower to grow but when done well you get these stems that are larger than life. This year’s crop is especially insane. The harvest window is fast and furious so who knows how long we’ll have them, but this week’s bouquets will be filled up with these beauties. So now is a good time to get out your tallest vase!

Find our flowers at our Farm Store (open Thursday 4-7 and Saturday 9-12) and the Saturday morning.

We’re open tonight 4-7pm and Saturday 9-12! Our flower abundance continues and we are in snapdragon heaven. Also - baby bottle lambs are making their debut at the Flower Farm this week! They’ll be hanging out in the corn crib and would love for you to pet them. Great food on the menu this week and more fresh local produce is in the Farm Store. We still have a lot of nice plant starts though we are beginning to sell out and run low on flower and vegetable varieties. There are still a lot of native plants and we’ll continue to have them for a few weeks.

See you soon 💙

We are getting eaten up by skeeters after all this much needed rain. Our housemade Bug Bite Balm takes the itch right out so we can get on with our day without the constant irritation. If you’re in the same boat, give these a try! Our Bug Bite Balm is made with yarrow, plantain, and calendula all grown organically on our farm and infused in organic sunflower oil. I made a batch with lavender and peppermint essential oil (green label) and unscented (white label).

You can order online or stop at our Farm Store to shop in person. May they take that darned itch away for you!

I am always very sad when the ranunculus stops flowering, but the sadness is soon forgotten because the snapdragons come in hot just afterwards. If I could only grow one flower it would be these. I just love them so much. Good thing we grew so many that I can have my fill and still have some to share with you 😉

Don’t forget to join our Flower CSA so you can get all the good good flowers from us every week this summer! Full Season Shares are only open for one more week so sign up by Sunday, May 24.
