As always, I'm super duper behind in filling folks in on what's happening out here at Sarey's Heavenly Acres.
6 weeks ago, Juniper had two adorable babies. Unfortunately, things took a very difficult turn within 20 hours of their birth. They are doing amazing, but I have been battling mastitis with Juniper, since the get go. 4 trips to the vet, loads of medications, and countless hours of massaging infection out of her utter, and abscess that blew out the sidewall of her udder, later, we are finally making progress. I will spare you the pictures, as they most likely will be blocked on facebook anyway for graphic content.🤪 But I will include adorable pictures of the babies.
I have at least enjoyed bottle feeding the little ones.
Sadly, this means that we've had to make the tough decision that we will need to sell her to a pet only home. She is extremely bonded to Percy, the buck I bought with her so I may need to sell him with her as well. That does free up a job on the farm so I can keep 1 of the babies.😉

I'm super happy with the way this is turning out!!! Constantly looking for ways to cut down the daily maintenance and cleaning. I'm not getting any younger 🤪 28 80 # bags of concrete so far.....quite a few more to go. But clean up will be so much easier and sanitary. Plus, no more having to regravel constantly to avoid standing in poo muck.🎉Muck. Before and after photo. We'll, after photo and picture of an area not started yet.
Fall cleaning as I go too....cage left in the sun for a while, pressure washed and then I took the torch to it for good measure.

I always seem to be way behind keeping you up to date here. We now have a beautiful little doggy we added to the farm a couple weeks ago.......oh I mean a Jersey heifer. She is the sweetest animal on the planet and just wants to be loved on all the time. She is due in december. So, we will begin having lots of milk to play with. The research has begun on all the ways we can use her milk.😉

I love that what is becoming the norm around here, is our entire meals coming from our land. Smoked Boston butt smothered in homemade BBQ sauce, cucumber and tomato from the garden, and finally pickled beats. My beverage is goat milk, with an ice cube to dilute it some, otherwise it is super creamy. Yum!

Well, made my first yogurt......well, more like kefir milk. So far I've tried flavoring it with just vanilla and monk fruit, also Coco powder (as someone suggested), and today I just used a little peach butter. Yum. I'm thinking that I should use some of the blackberries I'm picking right now for tomorrow.

Springtime is definitely go time here! In the midst of it all, we made a week long trip to California, so am now playing catch up. I thought that Venus had weaned her baby just before we left and while I was gone. I am so happy to be proven wrong! I started out getting barely a cup of day of milk and am now up to over one and a half cups twice a day.🎉 While, that's not a lot, It is plenty for me to drink. And yesterday I made my first soft goat cheese.
I also made my own goat milking stanchion out of old pallets. I was able to sell the baby 5 minutes after I posted the ad and they took his Grandma too.
Lastly, Juniper is suddenly getting quite round and I expect more little ones any time now.🎉
