Not only have we been working on the raised garden beds, we have also been turning last year's pig pen into garden space! It has been a lot of work because we don't have a good rototiller (does anyone have a gas rototiller for sale??) so things have been planted later than they should be. Hopefully they'll still do ok. So far we only have corn and pumpkins, but I'm going to Better Blooms on Thursday to get more plants. We're working hard becoming real farmers! πŸŒ½πŸŽƒπŸŒ±πŸ…

Now I can get all of my tomatoes, peppers, watermelon and cantaloupe in them! Fingers crossed they survive 🀞🀞

The bucks got their feet trimmed today, and this sweet boy kept nibbling on me.
He has a new home lined up in a couple of weeks, and Avery went to his new home this morning too!

Attention Grant County Farmers Market 2026 vendors! I am working on an email to send out for all of the approved applications we've received so far. It will be coming from our new email address:

[email protected]

Please use this email address for any questions, or to send your application to if you still haven't sent it in.

We are still looking for someone to come do music and face painting on our opening day as well! Please reach out if you're interested in doing one of these things.

Opening day is June 20th, and we're so excited to see you all!

It's an afternoon latte kinda day 😌πŸ₯΅

Goat weigh in for 4-H is done! Jinkies (2nd picture) is heavier than Brisket. She's sooo much thicker than him, which is funny because she's 1/4 Nubian.
I'll post more pictures (better ones) as they grow and as Dain continues to work with them.

‼️ ATTENTION ‼️

The Grant County Farmers Market 2026 is still seeking vendors!
Just about any homemade or home grown item will be allowed.
Do you grow a garden? Have extra produce?! Come set up a booth and make a little bit of cash.

We would really like to set up a face painting booth! Something fun for the kids. If this is your specialty, reach out for an application!

And most of all, we'd really like to have live music for our opening day, June 20th!

Send me a message if you need an application and I can send it your way.

My garden is coming along sooooo nicely! We pulled all of the radishes today and plan to replant that area with carrots. We'll put more radishes down where we originally tried to plant carrots (there are 3 coming up πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚)
Today we also planted several varieties of squash, pole beans, cucumbers, lettuces, onions, leaks, the carrots I soaked the other day, and more cabbage.
I have 3 more beds to build, and that is where all of my tomatoes, peppers and melons will go.
It may seem silly that we plant so much when Clell and I only eat meat and animal products, but the kids eat a whole foods diet. And I'm hoping to have lots of produce to feed to the pigs we're bringing home in August.

What are YOU planting this year??

In all my (6) years of gardening, we've rarely been successful growing carrots. We plant seeds all season long, and we're lucky if we get 2 or 3 to grow. So I'm trying something new! I'm soaking the seeds on the paper towels, and then tonight I'll plant the whole thing and see how they do!
If you're an expert carrot grower, how do you do it? Please share your wisdom!

The free feed store kittens are doing great! They're still in the house since they're so little, but they're growing fast! Picante has come around and now isn't so spicy, unless she's attacking her sister on my lap πŸ˜‚ Abby is holding the other one while these 2 wrestle.
