365 days, 4 hours, and 5 minutes ago, our lives changed in an instant…again.
8.2K shares. A “viral” Facebook post. Hundreds of text messages, Facebook messages and phone calls pouring in from across the county, the state and the country. We will never forget the way this community rallied around our family that day and in all the days that followed.
This is a tough one for us to share, but we feel like we have to. We need to keep spreading awareness, especially with harvest season upon us and more tractors, combines, and farm equipment out on the road.
If sharing what happened to our family can save even one family from going through what we have, it will mean the world to us.
So here’s our PSA: ⬇️
That farmer you’re sharing the road with? They’re someone’s whole world. Someone’s spouse. Someone’s parent. Someone’s son or daughter. Someone’s grandparent. Someone who is expected home at the end of the day.
Move over. Slow down. Be patient. PAY ATTENTION. We’re literally begging you. 🙏
We know nobody wants to share the road with farm equipment. And truthfully, if we had a choice, we wouldn’t be out there either. We’d much rather be in the field, doing our job, rather than traveling the roads between jobs with traffic flying past us, impatient and careless drivers trying to get around us.
But this is our job. There’s nothing we can do to avoid it. Getting home at the end of the day should NEVER be a question.
It’s been a year of surgeries, setbacks, challenges and a whole lot of things none of us ever expected to face. Life doesn’t look the same as it did a year ago, and Wayne has missed out on some pretty big moments along the way.
But we thank God every single day that he’s still here.
Clearly, his job here isn’t finished yet.
There’s still a long road ahead, but Wayne has made it this far. So he’ll keep moving forward, one day at a time.
To our neighbors, family, and friends - thank you. For the prayers, the messages, the meals, the visits, the help, and for simply showing up when we all needed you most. Your love and support over this past year has been felt every step of the way.
One year later, and the number one lesson we’ve learned is that sometimes the biggest blessing is simply getting more time.💚
