Sometimes the planning gets a little hectic around here!😊

We are busy prepping for a big holiday season while also continuing to bring you fun events & a fun experience this fall.🍂

And, in the month of September, I'm taking you behind the scenes of our small business. The good, the bad...and the crazy.😊

We are looking for a couple more weekend warriors during our holiday season at The Local!

Highlights of the weekend position:

-In charge of baking our cookies and cleaning in Mrs. Claus' Kitchen
-Assist in facing retail displays and restocking
-Provide excellent customer service for our customers this holiday season
-$15/hour, plus employee discount...plus fun merch!
-Position will be for weekends in October, November, and December

Requirements:

-Must be 16 years of age or older
-Must be able to work at least two Saturday shifts and two Sunday shifts each month in October, November, and December
-Must be able to lift 40 pounds and walk up/down stairs

Bonus:

-LOVES the Christmas season and is happy to listen to Christmas music for three months!🎄

We are less than 4 weeks away from kicking off the start of our holiday season, and there is a lot to do!😊

Now that the majority of our holiday inventory has arrived, I need to see where I have gaps in our product mix.

Also, we will start creating the holiday magic in our lower level this week as we begin display set up and start to build out Mrs. Claus' Kitchen.🎄

Even on the days I am not scheduled to work at The Local, there are usually some behind the scenes to-dos...even if it's only for an hour or so in the morning!

Small business ownership can look a little different than other careers with family/work balance.

But, I now look at the whole picture...

Yes, I still went into work and did work things this Saturday & Sunday.

But, I got to watch my daughter play volleyball all day yesterday and had time to provide food for their team meal. And, my family got together for an impromptu birthday celebration for my dad.

And, today my family is heading to a wedding for my VERY FIRST employee on payroll...a girl that will be near and dear to my heart forever!♥️

So, the balance looks different, and is sometimes uneven. But, I am constantly trying to be better about building and growing both.🫶

We are open 12-4 today for shopping & drinks!

I'm introducing our staff in two separate posts!

First off, The Local originals...also known as The Local OGs! These ladies have been working their butts off for me for years...in addition to their full-time jobs, families, and other commitments.

I adore them...and I know you all adore them as well! We have learned so much from each other, and let me tell you...we have A LOT of fun and laughs together. ♥️

Please help me thank these ladies for their years of dedication in helping me grow The Local to what it is today, and for the great experience they provide when you come to visit us.

Kyra, Jess, and Taylor...you're in a league of your own!

Behind the scenes for 30 days!

I thought I'd show you how I basically take my business mobile between work and home.

Most of the time, I do my best and most efficient "computer work" either at my kitchen table or on the floor of my daughter's room (her room has the best sunlight in our house!☀️)

And, most of that type of work (taxes, reports, payroll, accounting, marketing, planning, etc.) needs to be done at the beginning of the week, as the end of the week gets too busy here at the shop!

We are open 10-5 today for shopping & drinks...enjoy the weekend!

Day 1 was literally a heavy lift!💪

Not all days will be this exhausting...ha!
