Our Rock Cottage and The Hill airbnb properties are just down the way from the Wilder museums and properties.
Check them and us out for a wonderful trip back in time. ♥️
Almanzo and Laura rolled into Mansfield in August of 1894 with their daughter Rose. They bought the first acres of Rocky Ridge a few weeks later. They stayed, built the farm, and years later in the same town Laura began writing her story.
And the story's still here, not just in the pages, but also on the land itself.
We're thankful that the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home & Museum keeps Rocky Ridge open so we can walk where they walked, see the house they built, and remember the legacy. They work hard to keep the house, the museum, and the grounds ready for the rest of us.
Wilder Days is coming up in a few weeks, and if you've lived here long and haven't taken the tour, this is a good year. It's a great way to show instead of tell your kids history, for one! We hope you can find some time to check it out.
