These American treasures became the objects of neglect, deceit, and theft. Happenstance and dogged searches in Philadelphia, South Carolina, and London rediscovered most. The pressed Lewis’s Monkeyflower, Erythranyhe lewisii syn. Mimulus lewisii is still missing.
