To all the JTAC Ranch Members and Supporters,

As mentioned in our closure announcement, we’ve been engaged in numerous discussions to find a new home for the JTAC Ranch community. Today, we are immensely excited to announce that a new chapter is on the horizon, and to introduce an exceptional new team that will be at the helm. This crack team is led by Major General Rick Mattson, Professional Engineer Dan Pham, Barrel & Hatchet Co, and GCP Rifle Co. Many of you know them already, but for those that don’t, we would like to share with you some information about them and this new venture, and humbly ask you to lend them your support and interest going forward.

This new team, as many of you are well aware, is comprised of individuals with a wealth of experience ranging from firearm instruction and range operation, to master development engineering and business management. Skills which will be vital to the success of this new venture. They are supported by a group of passionate investors interested in financing the project. This entire group of dedicated individuals is deeply embedded in the gun community and embody the commitment, capabilities and vision needed to build a new and better home for the JTAC Ranch community. We are so encouraged to see the level of commitment and expertise that is going into this new project.

In recent months, this team has been diligently working behind the scenes and has achieved significant milestones. A Letter Of Intent (LOI) to purchase nearby property has been submitted, and the team has already set in motion efforts to verify that this new property can support the current range’s needed activities in terms of regulatory approval. Meetings and discussions are also already underway with the County and other Agencies, and a preliminary site design will soon be submitted for review and approval to proceed. Finally, work is being done to set up a new management structure and governing board to operate and oversee this new facility.

We (the current owners) will work closely with this new team, providing support, insights and lessons learned, with the shared goal of ensuring as smooth as possible a transition for all our valued members. Additionally, the targetry, obstacles, movable buildings and other assets will be contributed to this new project in an attempt to help lower their startup burden.

Once again, our sincere thanks for your support and enthusiasm. We are confident that, under this new leadership and at a new and better location, the JTAC Ranch Community will continue to thrive as a hub of strong friendships, camaraderie, and personal growth for many years to come.

JTAC Ranch Closure Announcement

First, thank you to all our members and the staff who helped make this project a reality. Seeing the comradery and community that has developed around the range has been an incredible privilege, and risking its end is by far the hardest part of this path. It is our hope that while the JTAC Ranch facility is closing, the community that has been built around it will live on, and its existence will inspire others to pursue similar venues and communities in our area. To that end, we are talking with others to if there are means to stand up another facility in central Florida, and while it will not be us who spearheads that potential effort, we will attempt to assist those who do with the knowledge we have gained through running this facility.

As for the details. JTAC Ranch’s last day of operation will be December 16th 2023. It will be closing due to several factors, the two primary factors being the landowner’s desire to repurpose the land, and our having received notice that our conditional use approval to operate the facility in Polk County will end due to an adjoining housing project beginning development.

All our remaining annual members will receive a refund prorated to one month before the closing date. All monthly billing will also cease one month prior to closing. Current members may access the range until December 16th. If any member desires to cancel their membership before closure please let us know, we completely understand; and we will assist you.

Again, we greatly appreciate the time everyone involved has spent at the Ranch and wish the best to our staff and all of our members in their future endeavors.

Friday we will be closing at 2pm to set up the range for that match.

It is so amazing to see how Open Gym has grown these last 2 years. Pictured here isn’t even half of the numbers we have qualified (and show up) for Open Gym. These guys have grown immensely as shooters and made friendships while doing it. We hold each other accountable and push each other to become better. So thankful for them.

New light weight 4 oz hoodies have just landed. The back of these luxurious hoodies have a Swallowtail Kite carrying two JDAM’s with a lightning bolt in its talons. Why? Because Florida….that’s why. The Swallowtail Kite is a majestic bird that is frequently seen at JTAC Ranch. They are birds of prey and are “communal nesters”. (We are all about community here.) Where you see one there are probably more. Pick one or two up at the office next time you’re at the Ranch.
