Another productive day on our little growing farm. Another cooler day too, although most wouldn’t get excited about a high of 91 degrees 🤪.
We started out with a new Sunday message with 28:19 Church. Chef made breakfast too.
We unloaded the compost that we picked up (a mushroom farm that isn’t too far from us) last week. It only took us 45 minutes! We ran a drip system to the 5 Dogwood trees we planted a couple of months ago. The heat was finally getting to them. We also corrected our pollination issue with the greenhouse. In an effort to keep squash bugs out this year, we used window screen on the sides when you roll them up. We had the most beautiful squash and zucchini plants you’ve ever seen! But no fruit. Same for the watermelon and cantaloupe. Amazing plants, tons of blooms, but no fruit. So we ripped down the screen and replaced it with chicken wire. Since we’ve decided to rip out the squash then I’m not worried about keeping anything out except, chickens, geese and rabbits. We finished off the evening with a clean chicken coop, freshly scrubbed goose pool and fresh bedding in the nesting boxes. Somewhere in the middle of all of that we ran into the house, had chips and pico de gallo and guacamole. Both of them were freeze dried and in the pantry. Put it in a bowl, add some cold water and it’s like it was just made. That was dinner. 😂I’m absolutely exhausted but I love our life. We were so busy that we didn’t take any pics except these. This is where we are putting a temporary compost pile…..and the compost.
